Question about Vacuums

Customer service I have had problems twice with returning things at the store. The customer service representives are always so rude. I have shopped at the yorba linda,CA store for the last time. I will not shop at any Best Buy for that matter. You know there are so many stores out there with much better service. I just want to say Good Luck to all Best Buy employees.

Since you said you were sucking water out of a "trench" I would bet there was some debris in the trench that impacted the impeller on the vacuum and caused the metal impeller to fragment, taking the plastic pieces with it. It is highly unusual for this to occur on vacuums if some type of debris, such as a small stone or piece of metal does not reach the high speed impeller/fan. I suggest using either a foam sleeve over the filter cage, or an old nylon stocking if you can get one, to screen out the debris that will cause this condition.

The first thing to check is make sure the belt is not broken or stretched. It is possible that a vacuum cleaner may need a new belt even if you just bought it. It may have been a year or more since it was assembled and had the belt installed. It may have spent some time in a warehouse and on the store shelf before making it to your home so the first thing to check is always the belt. If it has a stretch belt they must be stretched to almost twice their original length when installed on your vacuum and they lose elasticity. The rule of thumb in the vacuum industry is belts should be changed every three months for proper agitation. If the belt is not broken or stretched check to see if there may be something stuck in there preventing the brush roll from spinning freely.

Some People Hu...........Make sure that all filters are clean if need be renew..Sounds like overheating fault resulting in Thermal cut out operating....Good luck

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. There are only 2 ways that I can think of in answer to your question. Either you can replace the fan impeller or you have to replace the entire motor. You would have to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or contact the Shop Vac factory @ the website or to call the factory @ the phone 3 listed below; or check your owner’s manual.

Older Oreck XL, new belt, new bag, checked for clogs, does not pick up
as it used to, and, much harder to push, seems to grab or drag, why????

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. There are a couple of things that may work. Depending on if you have the old style brushroll you can upgrade to a new style Oreck brushroll that has twice the brushes and will a work a lot smoother. Also, clean the bottom plate – get rid of any dust and dirt build up and then spray the bottom with silicone and let it dry after you have totally cleaned it. Always use Oreck genuine belts and to change the belt every 4 to 6 months for the best cleaning and store the extra Oreck belts in a Ziploc bag in the refrigerator, other wise if you have a new belt, gag, you have checked for clogs there is no reason why it should be hard to push, if the silicone does not work replace the bottom plate.

A Wheel or disk has come off of the motor. I would like to get a copy of the user manual to see if I can determine where it came off of. This Genie Shop Vac was given to us from my father-in-law.
