To set the time / date stamp you'll need your remote control and you'll need to hook it to a TV with AV inputs. Be sure to correctly select the AV input the camera is plugged into. This is the most overlooked step that causes a lot of users frustration.
I've attached a YouTube video on how to accomplish the time/date setting.
For this camera you will need to find in your equipment (or purchase) a "stereo video cable "
This cord features a 1/8th (male) headset jack on one end and 3 male RCA jacks on the other. (yellow/red/white).
Plug the 1/8th jack into the camera's AV input and the RCA plugs into your TVs RCA port input and select the correct AV input (AV 1, 2, etc)on your tv selector and the camera should play through your tv.
Hook camcorder with TV through its AV cord, if you get playback sound in TV then there is small speaker in lcd section of camera that will be replaced and if you do not get sound in TV then sound processor chip on camera main board will be replaced. Let me know if you are handy with electronic stuff repair to provide you more info to repair it yourself or take it to local camera tech for fix. Thanks.
Let me know do you see live view in camera mode on LCD or view finer? If yes then check AV (audio-video) cord hooked with camera and better to get another AV cord to test. Let me know if need further help.
Hello there. The only way to hook up your camcorder to the tv is if you change the settings of your camcorder. Every camcorder has a different setting menu so you might just have to look it up in the manual. Or maybe your cables are not connected properly.
when I plug in the RPU DC cord from my camera to the input on my tv I get nothing. Is my input jack bad or what. Also, if I tried the s video jack from the camera to the tv, would that work??? I don't know what the AV out jack is for I don't have a cord for that
Some of those av cords are wired for use on Apple computers and the leads into the mini jack are either reversed or they don't line up properly. The best way to get it fixed is to bring the camera into Radio Shack and test the correct cable that you need. You can order one from Canon usa website as well.
To get the USB connection to work requires software to run it. Pinnacle Studio works well with that.
