I had the exact same problem with the same model and mine was just 3 years old. My problems started when I defrosted the freezer. I spent 75gbp on an engineer who told me that I had probably 'spooked' the fridge when I defrosted the freezer, that this particular model of fridge wasn't designed to last longer than 2 years.

I would recommend you check the door is shutting properly (check the screws at the top, it might be just slightly out of alignment).... I turned the whole unit off for over 2 days to allow absolutely everything to defrost (both inside and on the back of it)... within 30 minutes of turning it on, the back of my fridge was already frosted over.

Engineer told me not to waste money calling them out again, and to buy another one...

I have a ocean fridge freezer & want to know if No.1 is the coldest setting or No. 9 is the coldest on the temperature dial

9 is usually the coldest setting. Turn the dial all the way. The side with the click is off. If it does not click, then turn it all the way and listen for the compressor to turn on or off. What I just told you applies only to the freezer. The numbers on the dial for the fridge should be the same.

I hope someone can help me. I have a Whirlpool Fridge Model Number WRN52HWG6 and we bought it from Fridge and Freezer City O'Connor Perth about 6 months ago and I don't have the owners manual for it...

If you turn the dial clockwise this will make it colder anticlock less cooler...Start by switching off for a few Hours leave door open to allow defrost...Turn the stat fully anticlockwise to almost off then put it to say 2 o clock position assumming that it will go from 12 to 10,this should allow food to remain cold without freezing.you are looking for about 3/8 Degrees c.....Buy a cheap thermometer this will help to keep you on the right track..Good luck

Hello,

When the refrigerator side is getting too cold this is because the control of the compressor has gone bad in some way...

There a few different things that could cause the unit to lose control over the temperature of the fridge side.

If your refrigerator has a damper door that opens and closes to allow cold air to move to the fridge side the damper linkage or the damper motor may have broken or gone bad.

The coils in your fridge may have frozen over and now the air does not move at all so then the ice builds up and can freeze parts of the fridge side.

The thermostat has gone bad and so now the compressor runs continually. This will not be noticed readily on the freezer side but will show up quickly on the fridge side.

Many newer model refrigerators use an electronic sensor or thermistor to read the temperature and supply the info for the circuit board and often a digital readout.

So, here is how I would go about troubleshooting this problem.

Check the coils for ice, defrost the coils with a heat gun or hairdryer, then check for the reason why they iced over. Defrost control or defrost timer bad? Evaporator fan bad?

Check the damper door to see if it is stuck in the open position. If it is then check the motor and the linkage.

Check to see if the refrigeration unit will shut down if the thermostat or digital setting is turned up to a higher temperature. If it continues to run then find the cause and fix it. It may be a bad thermostat, sensor, or control board.

Sometimes with a change is weather to a cooler climate this will be enough to also affect the inside temperatures. Make sure that a bit of adjustment in the thermostat or setting of the temperature will not solve your problem very simply.

I hope the above helps.

Good luck.

Have samsung american fridge freezer with ice dispenser i bought it second hand the problem is the digital display says the freezer is 20 degrees but its freezing inside also every minute or so we hear a...

If it's American, the temperature probably reads as fahrenheit. If so, 20 degrees F is 12 degrees F below freezing which converts to only -6.67 degrees Celsius.

Domestic freezers should be set to -17 degrees Celsius (= 0 degrees F), so the beeper is warning you that the freezer compartment is far too warm. If it's working correctly and has the temperature control set correctly, then it should achieve the correct temperature if you leave it for 24 hours and do not open the door nor try to use the ice dispenser. If the freezer is full of unfrozen items and so has to cool those down as well, then it may take even longer to reach the correct operating temperature.

Te operating manual for your appliance will tell you how to set the temperature correctly and whether it's possible to select between fahrenheit and Celsius scales. Most models allow you to set an override on the beep alarm as well. I cannot guide you on this without knowing the exact Samsung model.

Stopped working although power is still going to the fridge, the dials read - freezer 2 C and fridge 14 C...

Shut off fridgge and power on after some 6 hours. If the temperature in freezer goes to below -5( ideal -18) then the system is working fine. If the freezing stops after several hours then it is possible that the thermostat is not working or the auto defrost timer is not shutting off the system,
However is there is no cooling then the compressor or gas pressure is down.

I have a skandiluxe chest freezer and the orange light is on - is this right?

On my Skandiluxe CF309 chest freezer, the ORANGE LIGHT IS FAST FREEZE and should be depressed to quick freeze when adding newly bought items as the temperature will go up when you've opened the lid for prolonged periods. This is also used to drop the temperature when restoring after defrosting. REMEMBER TO TURN THIS OFF. Also, take note of the gauge in the inside of the freezer which tells you which setting to switch the dial to according to how full the freezer is, and therefore the most energy-efficient setting.

The red light is the warning or "alarm" and will light up when the temperature is too warm.

The green light is a "control" light and I can't remember what this is for, but I don't recall seeing it on in the 15yrs or so that I've had the freezer.

TO DEFROST:
(The drain comes out directly underneath the drain hole and there is no hose. Not a very helpful design. I found that if you tip the freezer forward and scoop out as much water as you can, then mop up the rest with a large bath towel, it should do the job.

BTW if you are planning to defrost the freezer (or any freezer for that matter), once you've switched it off, if you have access to a hand-held steamer, and place something like an empty plastic box to catch the ice (we used an unused litter tray as it's the perfect size to catch all the ice in an upright freezer), it saves a significant amount of time. If you don't have one, it's worth investing in a cheap one with the squeegee function so you can do all the nitty-gritty jobs around the house including the windows in no time and no elbow grease at all !!

My refigerator and freezer are not cooling enough

You could call for service. It is commonly possible that there was a loss of gas, or the thermostat is defective, or the compressor is weak. The refridgeration service man should be able to check for all of this.
