Hi, could somebody help me here? I bought the A620 and according to the manual there is one position to insert the card, but according to the drawing on the machine the position is different. What is the correct position? Thanks

The little diagonal corner on the card should be facing upward. It's virtually impossible to insert the card incorrectly as you'll encounter strong resistance. If the card easily slips into the slot, then you got it right. Keep gently pushing until it clicks in place. To remove it, gently push it in further until you hear a click, then relax pushing as a spring will eject it.

What type and size memory card? The A620 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

Just got a new memory card and now the camera says memory card error. memory card locked

SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Bought new sdhc memory card and it reads memory card error please help

The A620 is designed to work with SD cards, not SDHC cards. SDHC cards will fit into the slot but are electronically different. You'll have to stay with SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

I'm assuming the slide switch on the side of the card is in the correct position. In order for a card to work in a particular camera, it must first be formatted in that camera. This completely erases it so download any pictures still on it to your computer first.

Some cameras cannot handle over 2GB memory cards. If it works fine with 2GB card - stick to that. If some other A620 you know operates with 4GB card, take yours to repairs.

Hi my canon A620 camera - I have purchased two 4gb memory cards and both say they are locked. Is this the camera, are the cards too big a memory. thanks for your help.

Canon doesn't typically publish information regarding the top capacity for memory cards, especially since new cards come out all the time and they'd have to continually rewrite their manuals.

I would, however, suggest getting a couple of 2gb cards instead of a single 4gb card. Not only is there less of a question of compatibility with 2gb cards, but if you misplace one, you still have a backup. A 2gb card will hold several hundred shots at full resolution and the lowest compression, so you won't have to worry about running out of space.

Hope this helps!

Memory card error

The memory card could be too big. Some camera's can only use a certain size memory card. You will have to check your manual to see what the specifications for your memory cards. Hope this helps.
