ITS THE MEDIA SENSOR. DOWN AT BOTTOM, IN FRONT, WHERE PAPER FIRST ENTERS THE MACHINE FROM THE TRAY, THERE ARE SOME SENSORS. JAM, PAPER SIZE + MEDIA. THE MEDIA SENSOR CHECKS EACH PAGE ON THE FLY, TO SEE IF IT IS A TRANSPARENCY, AND SLOWS DOWN DRIVE, NO MATTER WHAT THE PREVIOUS SETTINGS. THE SENSOR IS DIRTY. CAREFULLY FIGURE OUT HOW TO LIFT UP THE BLACK PLASTIC PAPER GUIDES PARTWAY, ITS A PAIN, AND MAKE SURE ALL OPTICAL SENSORS AND ANY SURFACES THEY "LOOK AT" ARE CLEAN. USE SOME CANNED AIR TOO. WONT HURT.

The fuser is on it's way out, the problem is it's not getting hot enough quickly enough which is why the print cycle slows, but not give an error.

Poster printing too slow. What can I do to speed it up. Sometimes it takes a half hour just to print one poster.

Poster printing is always slow because it is memory intensive and one HUGE file, data has to be swapped in, used, deleted and more data added until the post is printed. The only way is add supplemental memory and that is not available as an option on most home printers.

Printer is too slow to print once the command is given from PC

Hi
While printing from the USB Port sometimes slow printout/data transfer will result in slow printing of print jobs. or The printer might be printing slow , pausing in between print jobs , or intermittent printing. The symptom solution is mention below, read and follow the instruction.

Solution 1

After the printer is installed on the USB Port, check the description under the Ports Tab what is selected. Please refer to the figure below : c00873625.jpg Using the USB/ Virtual Printer Port and DOT4/ HP Laserjet 2420, under the Port/Description Tab printer speed will be as per the standard. Whereas using the DOT4/ Generic IEEE 1284 under Port/Description Tab, Printer speed will be very slow. If DOT4/ Generic IEEE 1284 is selected by default, then you have to uninstall the USB driver from the Device manager and plug in the USB cable again. Then it will detect the printer and USB port with respect to the printer model. Insert the Driver CD as prompted and by default it will select the DOT4 HP LaserJet2420 Port.

Solution 2

  1. Insert the HP LaserJet 2400 print series CD-ROM.
NOTE: If the HP Software does not automatically start, click Start , Run , and then Browse . Browse to the CD-ROM drive at the top of the window under look in and select Setup.exe .
  2. Select Modify Installation . Figure 1: Modify Installation c00369540.gif
NOTE: If Modify Installation is not available See Modify Installation is not Available.
  3. Select the Language of your choice. Figure 2: Select Language c00369541.gif
  4. Click Next. Figure 3: Setup Wizard c00369542.gif
  5. Verify Reinstalling an existing printer is selected. Under Select the port for this printer , choose USB001 or Dot4_00x and click Next . Figure 4: Choose Port c00369543.gif
  6. Select desired Features and click Next . Figure 5: Select Next c00369544.gif
  7. Click Finish . Figure 6: Select Finish c00369545.gif
Uninstall options
  • First verify if an uninstall options is available. If an uninstall option is available under Start, Programs, HP LaserJet 2410 2420 2430 , use this method to uninstall the printer.

Very slow printing - HP 5610 all in one

Very simple solution: The cartridges still have ink in them but printing is very slow. Remove the cartridges from the printer. Take a wet paper towel and wipe the print head on each one until the ink flows from each head. Usually it is the color cartridge because it is used less than the black one. Once ink is flowing again, reinsert the cartridges into the printer and your normal printing speed will return. This worked for me, no thanks to the "experts" or trouble shooting guides.

Slow Printing

You need to change the pickup roller. The rubber dries out and it is not able to pick up the paper quickly. I had this problem with our printer at work. We changed the rollers and its printing like new again.

Slow printing

Even though the printer doesn't call for new ink, remove or replace the color cartridge. First I removed the color and the test page printed at full speed. I then put in a new color cartridge and it again worked full speed. I believe the problem was somewhere in the half used color cartridge. Hope this solves your problem.

HP LASERJET 4 PRINTER

57 (or 57.1) SERVICE Message (Main Motor
Failure)
The 57 SERVICE indicates that the DC Controller PCA detected a
general motor failure. The Main Motor drives all moving
components in the printing process. The Main Motor is a 4-phase,
DC servo motor controlled by the DC Controller PCA.
The formatter detects a Main Motor failure when:
• The Main Motor does not come up to speed within one second
of receiving drive voltage.
• The Main Motor deviates from the correct speed for one second
after reaching the correct speed.
Main Motor Functional Checks
• Inspect the gear train for debris that would block the free
operation of the gears.
• Check the gears in the Toner Cartridge for wear and binding.
• Reseat J211 (or J214 on the HP LaserJet 4 Plus/4M Plus) on
the DC Controller PCA, and the main connector on the Main
Motor Assembly. Refer to Figures 7-16 and 7-17 for the DC
Controller PCA connector locations.
• If the problem persists, check that the +24B Voltage is present
on the DC Controller. If the voltage is not present, replace the
DC Controller. If the voltage is present, and the motor does
not rotate, replace the Main Motor Assembly
