Brother HL-2070N won't feed paper from tray

I noted that you replied to someone else on this problem and you said the gears were out of alignment. How do I go about fixing that particular problem? The manual feed is fine. Just the paper tray won't feed.
Thanks.

Same problem ... how do you remove the 'gear'???

  • mzazo Oct 13, 2008

The printer gears move for a few seconds, then stop and the red printer light blinds. It will not load paper from tray or manual feed.

I had the same problem with 2 of the 2070N printers. Solution was that the paper tray was setting to tight against the paper pushing it tight up to the front of the tray. Back the rear support up so there is maybe 1/16 inch clearance between the paper and the end of the tray. No more feed problems.

May be the same problem. If the paper is tight in the paper tray, it doesn't feed right. Make sure there is about a 1/16 inch gap between the paper and the front of the tray. Slid the rear clamp back to adjust the distance.

Try cleaning the feed. you may have to remove the black gear with a spring on it temporarily to get the feed spun around... do not remove any pins from the gears these are timing, and as I fix copiers for a living, I have experience with timming.. it isn't for the novice, unless they understand the copier(printer)

cleaning feed is 90 percent of our jamming issues in the industry. You may also get ahold of brother solutions and get new feed and install them.. but brother didn't make this an easy chore. :P

If you're running this printer over ethernet, try setting the ip address to static, then configure the driver to the same address, as well as ensuring that you're printing RAW to port 9100. Took me an hour to figure it out, but happily printing from multiple machines now.

I installed new toner cartridges and a new drum (authentic HP) and my printer won't print. When it is initializing, the sound is different and when I look at the gap between the toner cartridge and the...

On the 2840,one reason why the carousel gets out of alignment is because non HP cartridges were used and they were leaking toner. The leaking toner gets into the carousel gears and causes them to jump a couple of teeth.

If you have a warranty HP will fix the problem under warranty repair. However, if you were using non HP cartridges you will be billed. If your problem is non aligned gears, you won't need parts. The gears will have to be aligned and vacuumed. It doesn't require dismantling the printer.
If you do have to pay, it should only be an hour of labor.

Does it print good? If the printing is good, the carousel isn't out of alignment. Don't fix it if it isn't broke.

My HP 950xi is stuck on "Press enter to align cartridges." How do I delete or bypass this message on my printer?

Have you already solved your problem? There are at least three posts about the same problem and the PSC 950.
If you solved your problem, please comment, saying how you did it, so that you can help others.
If you didn´t solve it, check this HP FAQ:
Solving Print Cartridge Alignment Problems
Note that it says (in the end) that you can bypass the alignment page and use the information from the last successful alignment in your printer, by pressing and holding the Enter button, and then pressing Setup .
I offered this same suggestion to other posters: one replied it didn't solve his/her problem; the other, let know it did.
It might work for you. Please try and give some feedback (even if it is not positive).

Phaser 8400 error code 43:117147

Hi john804:
Thanks for the reply. Here is your problem.

7,010.4x: PM_FAULT_HEADTILT_HOME_ERROR
The printhead is stuck in the tilt position by the tilt arms. The process motor gearbox being out of sync can also cause this error.
1. Reboot the printer.
2. Verify the lock arms rotate correctly.
3. Check for spilled ink around the printhead.
4. Check the process motor gears for damage. Ensure the
process gears are correctly aligned and homed.
5. Verify the process gear box, process shaft, and drive
module shaft are at home position.
6. Verify the headtilt gear will engage, see the home
positioning procedure on page. You can manually
engage the headtilt gear.
7. Run the Tilt Axis Drive test.
8. Run the Process Motor test.
9. Run the Head Maintenance Clutch test, if the test fails
replace the clutch.
10.Run Wiper Drive test. If this fails inspect the wiper
drive system.

Hope this helps

Align cartridge issue

With this printer, we find, if the scanner mirror is dirty, it will not align. You will need to take the scanner glass out and clean glass and mirrors.

NOTE: If the fix doesn't work, you don't find answers to fix it and are going to get rid of it, please contact me, I would consider purchasing it from you.

Good Luck,
Jennifer

The alignment is off and the type is blurry

try to clean the unit if you can with a cotton swab and some alcohol. if it is an HP Officejet 1500, find the nearest trash can, that is the only solution to fix that particular model. been there, done that. i had to deliberately "misalign" the cartridge to be able to use it at all.
