Lens will not retract and no view on back of screen

I have a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S90. The lens is in a "stuck" position. It only says "Access" on the screen. It does not show any screen display.

have had camera about 2 years and love it. After taking pictures, camera lens all of a sudden didn't retract. I Have tried moving the lens and pushing it in. Still not working though.

I am having a similar problem. The camera will let me view photos but when I try to take a picture the camera either automatically goes off or the lens will come out and get stuck and all I get is a black screen with "access" on it.

same issue. Camera says ACCESS. then shuts off?? What is happening?

Exact same problem where I can review pictures on the memory card but can't do anything else. The lens is stuck out as well. I too get no view on the screen and the "Access" message, with the camera sort of humming like it's trying to do something (which I assume is trying to adjust the lens). Then a message pops up saying, "Turn the power off and on again", while the camera beeps repeatedly. However, doing so just leads to the same thing. : (

Hi,
This problem basically arries due to malfunctioning of the zoom moter and due to this "Access" appears on lcd. To rectify this problem you guys have to change the lens block assembly.
    Thanks for using fixya.

I have a sony dsc-s90. It will work fine for 3 - 5 min. and then a black screen will appear with "turn power off and on again". Once done, it happens again.

Usually a lens sensor. Clean with maybe some compressed air. If you trust your skills you could open the unit and clean cabinet where the lens retracts and extends.

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC S90 lens problem - fix or buy new?

its better to replace a new one than to repair it and besides you will cost alot if you decide to repair it. although if the cost is not that much then go for repairing it.

When i turn off my camera sony cyber shot DSC-S90 the zoom wont retract and a word appear in the screen turn off and on again..any idea what's going on with it?

Sounds like you have some grit or gum on the lens barrel. This will cause the lens to stick in the partly closed position. Clean the lens barrel and try again. A rag moistened with methylated spirits may be needed. The rag must not be wet as we must not harm the special grease used in the lens.
If this fails it probably means an very expensive repair, or replacement.

When I turn on my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W35 the screen is dark with the word "Access" on it, moments later it tells me to power it off adn on again, any ideas?

Its lens error in your DSC-W35 camera.
Lens mechanism is either stuck or not retract completely and system control sense this error. Please replace lens assembly to get it fixed because lens mechanism is not repairable.
Thanks.

This is a hardware problem. Your simptons is tipical of a lens position sensor being faulty.

There is however nothing you can do yourself. Contact your nearest Sony dealer and take the camera to a Sony service centre.

They will quote you for a new lens assembly as they will not be able to replace the sensor only.

Cost should be about 1/2 of what you paid for the camera.

Good luck.

Lens stuck

Solution:

The Lense is obviously jammed some how.

Suggestion:

Send the product back to the manufacturer and see if they can repair the product or send you a new one.
