No power dell 1900fp silver blank screen power ??? help!!

I was given a 1900fp (silver bezel) with no cords and wasn't told it's working state. Connected a new 14v transformer to the monitor and a known working vga cable. The 2 left side input lights light up and search for an imput, the screen brightens barely but stays blank and the power indicator on the right side of the monitor light never lights.
Does this sound like a fixable problem? I am not afraid of taking this panel apart for a repair at home, so any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance
Jay

I've tried powering it up without the vga cable connected and nothing happens, screen is still blank.

I would really like to try to repair this myself, so sending to a shop and spending alot of money on this monitor is not an option.

Try swapping the computer power cable and don't connect the vga cable with the system. if you get a power on self test displayed it makes sure that the monitor is fine. if nothing is displayed you can take it for repairs or else call 1-800-624-9896 its Dell technical support number or log on to support.dell.com

MY DELL 1900FP WILL NOT POWER ON

Open and look at the tops of the capacitors. I bet there are at least 2-3 "bulging" tops. Replace them and the problem WILL be solved;.

How do you open the case of a E153FPc Dell monitor? I need to get at the electronics to try to fix a ''screen going blank after a few seconds'' problem.

Hello

Under the the pedestal mount there are four screws. Once you've removed all the screws and the attached devices and cable (most importantly the power cable must be removed). Now you'll need a couple of flat diddle sticks (Radio Shack). Use these under the front bezel in between the the plastic front bezel and the metal rim of the internal screen. You'll actually be prying these two apart until the front plastic bezel snaps away from the rear plastic container. This won't happen if there are any screws left in it. Once you have all the plastic off, it's time to put on your anti static wrist strap and open up the metal containers.

Monitor not working after adding drivers

1. turn off your computer
2. turn off your monitor
3. Unhook the power and video cable from both
4. Reseat them both on both ends.
5. Turn on your monitor
6. Turn on your computer

If its still doesnt work after all 6 steps, your monitor is bad, sorry.

Dell 1900FP LCD Monitor

First, I would use a multimeter to verify that the power adapter is good. It should have an output of 14VDC. If it is working, the next step in verifing that it is a backlight problem would be to connect the display as normal and, with it powered up, shine a bright light on the screen at an acute angle to see if the desktop image is being displayed. If you can see the image, then it is probably the lamps or the inverter.

To remove the cover, remove the four screws attaching the base and after the base is removed the 2 halves of the cover simply snap together. Using a jewelers screwdriver, start at one corner and gently pry the front bezel away from the back, working your way around it. There are 4 locking tabs on each side and 5 on the top and bottom.

This display has 4 lamps, 2 each at the top and bottom of the display. This is the easiest display I have seen as far lamp replacement goes. At this point, all you have to do is disconnect the lamps wire from the inverter, remove the tiny screw, right below the point where the wires connect to the lamps, and carefully slide out the lamp assembly. Be very careful not to flex them while removing.

Check the lamps for burnt spots at the ends or physical damage. If the lamps look good then I would not rule out the inverter as the problem. At this point, if you are not familiar with electronics, I would seek help from someone who is.

I hope this helps.

Blank

Unplug the monitor from the computer,
it should display the diagnostic screen on monitor in color.
if not reconnect it and boot computer or attach to a running computer with some stuff on the screen,
get a bright light and shine on the screen at an angle do you see the stuff/desktop.if you do the lamp or power supply is bad.
if the monitor is lit and the lamps work but no diagnostics then the video cpu on the monitor is bad.
