Trying to connect my wireless adapter. what is the wpa key

A WPA key is an encryption key for wireless networking devices. If you want to use a wireless router, you would need the WPA key that is setup in the router itself, in order for you to connect to it. You can see the WPA key on the security screen of your wireless router. Hope this helps.

Can't find my WEP or Passphrase key. Please help!

The WEP or Passphrase encryption key is in the router's wireless settings.
To connect to your wireless router, the router's wireless settings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also the USB wireless card in the laptops/computers needs to be configured with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops/computers can communicate with your wireless router.

I own a belkin n150 router. i've used ti on my laptop and now i bought a another computer and it won't let me access my router. it is asking for a security key. any idea how to access it or find it?

Your wireless card in her laptop needs to be configured with the router's wireless settings eg. the SSID and encryption key
The encryption key (security key) is in your wireless router, without this key the wireless router won't allow the laptop to connect to this wireless router.
The WEP, WPA, WPA2 encryption key is in your router's wireless settings. Log into your router and got to the wireless settings, you will need to get the SSID and the encryption key. Then go to your laptop's wireless card and configure it with the router's SSID and encryption key, so it will then connect to the wireless router and the Internet.

Can't connect ae1000 to a WEP encrypted bg access point

To connect to a WEP or any encrypted site, you will need to know and supply to your network connection:
  • the SSID (especially if the ID is not being broadcast as an additional safety feature).
  • the exact Encryption Key (normally entered in Hex format).
  • You need to exactly specify the security type (Open, Shared, WPA or WPA2) used for your wireless WEP connection as define on the access point wireless modem/router.
Hope it helps.

How do I limit the use of my wireless network by setting password only use? Neighbors are using it for business purposes!!

you can set network key to your Router so that others don't use it...
It is Called WEP ( Web Encryption Key )

to know your Default Gateway or IP address of Router

Click on STart Button - Click Run
Type CMD ( or COMMAND ) and hit Enter key
In the black window - Type IPCONFIG ( hit enter key )

It should display the Default Gateway like 192.168. etc.

Open Internet Explorer and in Address bar simply type the Default Gateway of router ( without www. or .com, just the no. )
Once the page is open, Under Wireless settings ( or Advanced Settings ) you will find set WEP - choose the option and Enter 5 digit no.

Click SAVE..
This will set a network password and anyone who wants to access your network, will have to enter the key to access it or they will get disconnected.

If you find difficulty following these steps to setup WEP key on network, call your ISP provider to help you setup this.

This way you will be able to block or stop anyone who trespasses and uses your facility without your knowledge

Need to get wep key for wlan

The WEP key is an encryption/authentication key. It is used in a wireless network to authenticate a device as being authorized to access the network and is also used to encrypt traffic between the wireless device and the access point. WEP is a weak encryption method and should be replaced with WPA2

How do i locate my security passphrase

Step 1:
Access the router’s web-based setup page. Open a browser and type in 192.168.1.1 ( on a Linksys router) and login (default password is admin)
Step 2:
When the router’s web-based, setup page appears, click Wireless and select Wireless Security. There you should see your encryption security key or paraphrase.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Need security option

The security code is set in the wireless section of the router. You need to access the router's setup page and go to wireless. Under security you will see the encryption key which you need for your adapter.
The setup page is at 192.168.0.1. Put that in your browser.
It will open to the router's setup page.
You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is admin, and the password is password. Click the Ok button to log in to your router. Then go to wireless tab, then security.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Find my wep key

Oh, sorry I didn't see it in the title before. First, check the dirvers are properly installed for the adapter. Then if you don't have the wep key, connect by cable or other computer connected to your router (better by cable, as you can have restricted access to router setup menu from wi-fi). The WEP will be in WIFI config. section. If you cant log in to your router, try export the config profile out from another wifi connected PC and import it into new device wifi config software (if they support the same profiles). If nothing of this helped, you can still reset the router (find in manual- most often disconnect from power and push reset button for about 10 seconds) and setup WIFI with new WEP key. Don't forget to write the wep down. If WEP is not your problem but connectivity of the adapter to internet or network at all, describe the problem more deeply
