Question about Xerox Phaser 6250DP Laser Printer
My 6250DP has the same whine and paper jam. It happens about 50% of the time. I had the repairman come and replace the main drive assembly and that didn't fix it. I saw this post about the registration clutch so he ordered that part but that didn't solve the problem either. So, we removed the new parts and I'm back to the original parts. Any other ideas? The repairman said the next repairs would be more costly like the Control board (over $400). Is it worth the money trying to repair? I just put in a new Imaging Unit and all new ink cartridges so I need to use a little while longer since I just spent all that money. Thanks for any ideas you might have.
Search xerox.com or tektronix.com for 6250FMSFix.psx, which is the driver to fix the fuser stall problem. When we downloaded the file 4 years ago, there was no link to the correct page. We had to do a google search on the site to find it. Other key words you might look for are "fuser", "stall", and "snippet". There is a FuserReadme.txt file that goes with this. It tells you how to put the file into the printer with ftp (that sounds safe; you did change the administrator password, didn't you?).

You sure he replaced the entire registration assembly? That is a very common problem . And you are explaining it to a T with one exception I can think of.
Remove the paper tray and look in the opening, there are "D" shaped rollers in that feeder area. Sometimes one of the pins in the roller snaps and causes the paper to drag because the roller is not spinning, just dragging on the paper.
The way to check is just put your hand on the D shaped roller, and see if it spins easily on the shaft. It should NOT spin on the shaft. Those 2 rollers are 10-12 inches in from the front of the paper tray.
I would suspect that even the new clutch if replaced is bad. That is a very common problem.
