Rosehello's solution worked with one additional step for my handsets...After re-programming all of the 4 handsets, I had to unplug the base unit one more time and then it reset. Until that time it would only show"AL" and would not function.

SOURCE: Registering a base station of Siemens Gigaset 2415 Cordless Phone

To register your handset to that base station, you must put the base station in registration mode at the same time you put the handset in registration mode. This is how you do it. At the handset you push OK when it asks you to register. If it asks you for the pin enter 0000 (factory pin) and push OK. The handset should say "registering base 1". Then at the base press the page/reg key down until it flashes (its to the immediate right of the cradle where you rest the handset for charging). That puts the base in registration mode and now its looking for the handset and vise versa. Now watch your handsets display. If it asks to to select an intercom number, then push ok and your done. If it says "invalid pin" then you need to reset your pin on your base (thats a different problem see below). If the handset times out and never registers, you need to repeat the process a couple times, you may have a bad base or it needs to be defaulted. If you need more help you can download a manual for free or get free technical help at the link below.
http://www.barclayent.com/manuals/Gigaset%202415%20User%20Guide.pdf

If you need to default your pin, you can do so but it will default the base station to factory settings. To do so remove the power from your base, hold your page/registration key down, and apply power back to the base. Count to 15, then let off the key. Turn off the power, count to five, then apply power again and follow the steps again to register the handset and you will need to reregister every handset that was previously running on it.

Registering Handset to Base Station

Registering the handset to the base station has nothing to do with your wireless router. The handset and the base act like walkie talkies. The signal from the handset must match the signal in the base station. The handset may have a reset button of its own, or a sequence you must go through to register the handset to the base. Try removing the battery from the handset and see if that will work. If not you need the manual to tell you what to do to register the hand set to the base.

I cannot register the handsets to the new base station I had an 8100-2 base that quit working. I bought a new 8100-1 base. Can I change the MAC ID on the phones so they will accept the new base station?

Hi,

If you cannot register the handset then here are some possible causes and solutions for them.

Cause 1:The handset and the base station were not prepared for registration.
Solution: Unplug and then plug in the power adapter.

Cause2:The handset or the base station has not been entered into registration mode.
Solution: See User Manual for correct registration of base station and handset.

Cause3:The base station is registered full.
Solution: Press [Page Key] on the base station to page the registered handsets, then perform the deregistration operation. Finally, register the handset you want to use.

Here is few more of additional info. if you want:

Register the Handset to the Base Step 1:
Place the accessory handset in the base station of the system. For some simple systems this may be all you need to do to register the new handset. If so, the LCD screen will read "Registration Complete."
Step 2:
Press the "menu" button on the base station, scroll down to "register handset" and press "ok."
Step 3:
Press and hold either "#" or "OK" (depending on the brand) on your handset until your hear the indicator tone. At this time the LCD should confirm the handset is registered.
Reset Handsets with the Base Step 1:
Clear the registration information from the base if you want to register your handset to a new base.
Step 2:
Hold [] and [#] down on the base for a minimum of 5 seconds or until the "System Reset" menu appears.
Step 3:
Choose the "deregister" option from the menu and scroll down to the handset you wish to remove.
Step 4:
Press "OK" to de-register the correct handset. Press "yes" when you are asked if you are sure, and wait for the confirmation tone.
Reset Handsets without the Base Step 1:
Hold [] and [#] down on the phone for a minimum of 5 seconds until the "System Reset" menu appears.
Step 2:
Choose the "base unavailable" menu, select "yes" and press the "OK" button.

Getting a new mobile in the registration mode with my Gigaset 8825 base station.

You need to register the handset to your base. Its easy, but first you need to clear the setting on the handset. Do this by pushing Menu, scroll to base system settings, push OK, then scroll to Base station 1, push OK, then scroll down to deregister, push OK twice, then press End. The handset should now say "please register", of which you can press OK, enter your pin or 0000 and the display should be flashing "registering base station 1". Now quickly, at your base push Menu, scroll forward to system settings, push select, enter your pin or 0000, then select. Push select again and the display should say "registering HS". Now, both displays (base and handset should say registering), keep your eyes on your handset display, once it "shakes hands" with the base it will prompt you to select an intercom number, you can just push OK. If you have problems, repeat the steps or you can download a manual for free at www.cordlessrepair.com
