My iron seems to have a short how can I find a repair man

First you should note the cost of a new domestic iron is relatively cheap these days and repairs are relatively expensive. In addition to this a great many steam irons are built with the element in an assembly that seems programmed to self destruct after a while. Some repairs are possible but they are hardly economic. The repair or maintenance of an iron these days is really the domain of a handyman, a clever neighbour or friend if you can't do it yourself.

Your local classified directory will provide repair services, friends and neighbours can make recommendations and an internet search could provide a list of trusted local traders.

My gravity feed iron won't turn on.

Your brand new iron probably is defective. Funny how no one wants to have anything to do with repair or replace. You may have to get another iron that that works.

How to repair aan electrical iron

If the iron doesn't heat, make sure power is on to the outlet, check the electrical chord, and check the thermostat and replace if necessary.

If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents and flush sediment out of the steam chamber .
If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical chord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat.
If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle.
If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.
If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the sole plate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the sole plate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.

The tools you will need are

  • Screwdrivers
  • Toothpicks or pipe cleaners
  • Sewing needle
  • Commercial electric iron cleaning solution or vinegar and water
  • Commercial sole plate cleaner or baking soda and water
  • Steel wool
  • Emery cloth
Please rate my solution.

Rowenta cord repair

I would get the part for your specific Rowenta iron from the Rowenta service center for this half of the US:

California Electric Service in Concord CA (it is the only Rowenta repair station in California) go to either of the following addresses:
their website is:
or tech service:

Then, if you do not want to send it there, go to local Applicance servicer you trust to have cord replaced locally if you prefer. I know it seems picky, but consumer products are UL approved, and I would not want loved ones working with a product I did not have serviced properly.

The cord on my professional Luxe has a short near the handle.

Take your iron to a hardware store and they should be able to guide you to the tool that you will need.

Power chord frayed and I need a new one for a conair hair iron CS36. The chord pivots in the handle 360 degrees.

go to ( apliance)
what I found out with my hair dryer (conair infinity model) was that there was a short at the plug and when I bent the wire a little to left or right the dryer would work. The plug is GFI protected that means there is a test and reset switch built in to the plug. There for for me to fix my hair dryer I would have to replace purchase order the whole cord. The cord assembly cost almost half the price it would cost to replace the dryer with a new dryer. I purchased a new dryer.
