Question about TruTech PLV16190 Television

2 Answers

TruTech PLV16190 My problem is the same as everyone else, black screen and no sound.  If I take the back off and look at the capacitors, what am I looking for?  I don't see any obvious problems.  I would really appreciate a more descriptive response than you previously posted to multiple users.  Seems like you know what your talking about, can you teach the rest of us before we pitch these hunks in the garbage can?   Thanks Alot, Salight

Open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items on the board that the power cord is hooked to.If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out, they need to be replaced. This should get it working again.I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!

TRUTECH PLV16190 Capacitor replacement what type

I take it there is a bad capacitor on the inverter? The board that powers up the lights for the screen.Any bad ones on the power board as well? The two PLV16190 I fixed had bad capacitors on both boards.Usually the tops, and or bottoms bulge out when they go bad. When you do go to replace them, you can get ones with a higher value on both specs, but not lower. For example,if there is a 10V 1000UF,and a 16V 1000 UF,you can replace them both with 16V 1000UF,and it will work perfect. You can also use different heights as well,as long as there is enough room. The type you want are called Aluminum Electrolytic.I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please let me know.Thank You very much!

Black screen

They are called capacitors. You have to unsolder the bad ones, and solder in the new ones.Have you removed the back of the TV yet?I hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please let me know.Thank You very much! Tyler

TruTech PLV16190 no picture, no sound

Very likely have blown fuses and capacitors in both the power supply and the backlight inverter sections. Repair is best left to a technician unless you are tech savy and able to use a soldering iron.

The official website for this item is http://1800customersupport.com/trutech. Try emailing them, or call them at 1-888-252-6252. Trutech is the store brand for Target stores, so many different companies make their products. This website isn't the official site for ALL Trutech products, just some of them, like this 19" LCD TV.
