Question about Philips 50P8341 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Seomthing you wrote before

Hello... I'm hoping to get some more information about something you posted. I'm a troubleshooting trainer for in a contact center in Florida. I'm hoping to get some help with a television that we are havinf issues with. Here's what you wrote:

The most common problem for this complaint is contaminated coolant for the picture tubes. If you look directly into the three picture tubes you will probably see a haze in the blue one. This is fairly common but requires a knowledgeable service man to take care of.

In reference to the technician...are you suggesting that the picture tube needs to be replaced or is there something else that can be done in order to get this issue taken care of..I'm learning by experience in my new postion, so any help would really be appreciated.

You just need to drain and replace the fluid in the tubes. Its not easy but it can be done by a DIY if they have a service manual.

Tv won't do any thing samsung 3 lights flashing and a ringing sound. It acts like it trying to reboot

The only troubleshooting you can try is to unplug the unit for 30 minutes. If the problem persists, the unit needs to be repaired. If you're under warranty, the manufacturer will repair or replace the unit. If you're out of warranty, they may have an out of warranty exchange or repair program. Contact the manufacturer for your full range of options.

Standby light blinks 7 times

Unfortunately, what you're describing is a repair issue. You won't be able to address the problem with troubleshooting. There is a part inside the TV that needs to be replaced. If you're under warranty, this will cost you nothing. If you're not under warranty the cost will likely be a minimum of $200 parts and labor. However, be warned that the cost could be considerably higher. You should call the manufacturer for your full range of options. They can be contacted via phone or online chat. Use the link below.

Can I change the Norm in a lcd tv Lg ( Ntsc to Pal n) By the Usb port or anyway, because I bougth it in USA and I live in South America? . If not there are other solution ... Thanks a lot.

I wasn't able to find a website for Norm electronics, however, if it's possible to change your TV from NTSC to PAL it would take a firmware upgrade or something similar to achieve such a change. Therefore it would be necessary to contact the manufacturer because only they would have access to what you'd need. Please keep in mind that unless it states such a thing is possible in the specs of your TV, it may not be possible. Most TVs would never be able to make such a change.

What you're describing is a repair issue. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do through troubleshooting to correct that problem. There is an internal part that has to be replaced. If you're under warranty or have an extended service plan, the repair will cost you nothing.

Tv wont responde to remote or front panlle, pressed reset no response

There are several things that you can do for troubleshooting this symptom.

First, you can test the remote; if you have a camcorder you can film the remote while it is transmitting. The camera can see the infrared diode on the front of the remote. Just turn the video camera on record and shine the front of the remote into the lens of the camera. If it is flashing then the remote is working.

You may want to unplug the television set for 30 min and then plug it in and see if that fixes it.

As you stated in your post, neither the remote or the front panel work to turn the television. It is possible that you have a dead set.

I would recommend that you contact a local service center to come out and diagnose the problem that you are having.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
If I have helped you, please help me, and rate this suggestion the highest FixYa rating. (Two Thumbs Up) If you cant rate this post with the highest rating, then please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

Question about a Phillips 50

All thats required is for the coolant to be changed you dont have to change the Tube as a new tube wont include the lens coolant assembly or coolant. So just change the coolant in the green and blue red doesnt get affected and you will be fine.
