WOW!! That was a quick resonse!! Thank you sooo much. I'll try this today...Is the belt hard to take off?

    Thanks Again

Actually it was not the belt. It was the loose handle that has an electrical connection that makes the brushes turn. I tightened the screw in the handle and it seems to work A OK!!

Change the belt, they stretch after a short time and then it can't drive the brush roll under load. The part # is 2031329

What is the electronic plug in the lower half of the Bissell Healthy Home vacuum model 5770 called

I see it on the schematic but its not specifically named as an available part. In vacuum shop terms its called a 'pigtail' cord. But, if that cord is burnt it could be a warning sign of a bigger issue such as a short or a motor that is on its way to catastrophic failure. I definitely recommend a vac shop look at that.

Bissell 5770 brush doesn't spin - doesn't seem to be belt. Replaced the motor, still doesn't spin. Help

1. Belt slack? , replace the belt.
2. belt slipping, clean belt as much as possible, no oil products on belt.

The brushes stopped spinning when turned on.

Did you check to see if the belt is broken. If it is, you'll have to replace it.

Hope this helps.

Brush will not rotate

You probably have a broken brush belt. Unplug the vacuum and turn it upside down. Remove the cover over the brush, sometimes with simple push clips or screws and find the belt. If the belt is there but broken or worn out, take it with you, and the model number of your vacuum to buy a replacement belt. While you have the brush out, clean the ends where it is held in place in the bottom. Many times a lot of dirt and hair gets trapped in there, preventing the brush from spinning.

Try to re-install the handle. On occasion if the handle is not installed properly and secured tightly the unit may experience intermittent power.

Bissell Healthy Home 5770 Fails to Turn On and Has No Suction!

I have the same problem sometimes...I noticed that the main body sometimes comes apart (the two sections under the turbo brush) and you just have to line them up again. If this is what's happening for you, try that. If they are still lined up, I'm not sure what's going on. Recently my brushes stopped spinning and eventually they just came back on...don't know why, but I'm guessing the contacts inside the vacuum are dirty or some things are coming loose.

Bissel Cleanview II (bagless 12 amp)

Greetings from GoVacuum.com,

What it sounds like is that your belt has either broken, or has been stretched to a point where the brushes won't spin. What you'll need to do is turn the vacuum cleaner upside down and turn on the vacuum. Are your brushes spinning at all? If your brushes are spinning, when you put the machine on the carpet, does the brush stop spinning, or slow down noticeably?

If either one of these happen, you'll need to replace the belt. Most Bissell uprights will use Bissell Style 7,9, and 10 belt (3 styles, 1 belt). The best way for you to find out what belt your machine takes, is to refer to your owners manual. You may also email me your model number, and I'd be happy to ship you the correct belt.

The instructions on how to replace the belt are also diagrammed and explained at the above link.
There is also a troubleshooting page on page 14.

Please email me if you have any further questions, I'd be happy to answer any question you may come across.
