You have to tighten the spring inside where the cord goes. The pull cord pulls on leverage by using a clock like spring like a lawn mower. You have to take it all the way apart. The cord part. To get to the spring.

It is strange answering this in a computer section. I answer computer questions and this is certainly not a computer question. Unless you have a wind up computer. Now I have heard of these. Where are you located, if this is a wind up computer.

How do i attach the starter cord to the handle when it only comes a short way out

If the starter cord is too short, then it has probably broken at one time and was just retied. A new cord would have to be installed if this was the case. If it was not broken, then it has jammed or ran over itself in the starter housing.

Generator back firing from inlet manafold

Your symptoms are from running lean. Foam air filters put debris in carb jets. Check all the carb passageways and jets. Always start with a new plug.

Starting up Ryobi Petrol Strimmer

full choke on , push petrol bubble 5 times then pull starter cord., with luck it will kick in to life after a 20/30 secs put on half choke , run again for 30 secs the no ckoke.

The main problem with Ryobi products is that they flood very very easly. So the more time you try and pump petrol into the carb the more it will flood . If that happenes then choke off and switch off and then just pull starter cord for about 30 secs then switch on and it could start if not prime it again as above good luck

Have companion 5250 generator which produces about one volt in each of the 120 volt outputs..........check in the back of generator..........looks like a capacitor is missing..........is this it and and...

The cap is a 35uf 370 vac, and the generator will not work without it. While you have it opened up, check out the diode, too. After it's been put back together, if it still doesn't put out, you may need to "flash" it. To do this take a 110 volt plug and cord, and plug it into one of the outlets on the generator. Start the generator engine and then *VERY BRIEFLY* touch the leads of the plugged-in 110 cord to the + and - terminals of a 12v battery. You should now have power available, so be very careful with the ends of the 110 volt cord as they are now "hot".

You have to hold up on the power cord to make it power on. Put tension on the cord so it will work.

One of the wires in your power cord broke. When you hold the cord up or put tension on it, you are pushing the broken ends together, allowing the electric current to flow through the cord.

You need to replace that power cord. It is both a nuisance and possibly a fire hazard.

I have a Ryobi RLT30CESN. The started cord broke

Dont remove the center screw out of the spring pully or the spring will fly out. you put in the cord while the spring is assembled inside. Take the housing off but do not remove the pulley unless the spring is broken. The string can be put in using needle nose pliers from the inside of the housing once it has been removed. once installed you wind the cord around the pully and then turn pulley untill you get proper spring tension. Once tension is achieved you fish the cord back threw the eyelet coming out of the housing and tie the handle to the cord. It is a really simple and easy thing to do but hard to put into words.

I have a 11 year old homelite zip start leaf blower that worked well until the starter cord became unattached. can i get access to this unit to retie he cord? thanks bill

This can be done ... but you got to pay attention while you take it apart. Also, when it is apart, you must visualize how it works ... mane sure you wind it the right way ... put a figure "8" know on both ends. You may need a Torx to disassemble it.

I hope this works for you

Broken pull cord

ur going to have to unmount the the motor from the shaft

step 1. Unbolt throttle housing

step 2. now with that out of the way u should see a clamp holding the motor to the shaft, loosen and pull the shaft out, there will be a cable, so make sure u have it lined up so it goes back into place

step 3, look at the back of the motor, u should see screws going into the plastic housing (coming in from back going into plastic)

step 4. once that is off pull the broken part of the cord out

step 5. wind up the starter coil, (it will only wind up one way) its spring loaded so be carful, once it stops back it off 1 full turn

step 6. u will see a hole for the cord in the housing and in the coil, make sure they are lined up

step 7. insert the cord through both holes, tie it as tighttttt as possible, then let the spring do the rest

step 8. put it back together
