Cannot install CARD GAMES for Windows

It's probably an issue with Vista, right click on the icon, go to properties, run as administrator, and run in compatability mode for XP. If this doesn't fix the problem, try contacting the software manufacturer.

Speakrs don't work on new HP Pavilion desktop.

If you're using Windows XP, go to the Control Panel, then double-click on Sound, then go to the Audio tab and make sure the playback device is set to your Realtek output.

If you're using Windows Vista, go to Control Panel and click on Hardware and Sound, then click on Sound. Make sure your Realtek device is selected with a green check mark. If it isn't, just click on it and then click the Set as Default button down below. Vista sound configuration is kinda quirky, and it does do some kind of detection when you plug a cable into an audio jack, so you might leave this screen up while you plug your speakers into the green audio jack in the sound card and see if it pops anything weird up.

Windows Vista doesn't recognize cable

XP & Vista require different drivers to run hardware devices.
Visit the Vista compatibility site to determine if your hardware is compatible, by clicking here,
or visit the manufacturer's website to see if there are updated drivers and firmware available for Vista that you can download and install.
Another possibility is to visit Windows Update and run a custom scan with the cable attached and see if you are offered a hardware update for your system that would make it work, but this seems unlikely in the case of a cable...
Good luck!

Hi, Have just purchased a Compaq SR5522. Already had fairly new flatscreen monitor with built in speakers so we didn't need new ones. Everything is connected up correctly and the monitor is working fine...

Check the connections first. There are usually at least two jacks on the back of a PC that look alike. Make sure you are connected to the one that is markes Speaker or has a tiny graphic of a speaker. Id the new connector is USB, then that's not it. Check the sound settings on your PC. If there is more than one output option, you may be sending the sound to the wrong one.

Did you get a software CD with this speaker set? Check the box and ensure that it says it's compatible with Windows Vista. I'm not aware of any speaker sets that wouldn't be, but it's always a possibility.

Also, more importantly, plug in the speakers before turning the laptop on. Many powered speaker sets will not work if you plug them in while the system is on.
