Question about HP Pavilion dv4000 Notebook
My laptop was purchased from Best Buy several years ago. I am trying to decide if it can be fixed or if I need to trash it. My harddrive has stopped working. It started making a grinding noise and windows wil now not start up. If I purchase a new harddrive or a new laptop, can I save my information? I also need a new battery. Will I have to upgrade to Vista or can I keep Windows 2000? Do I need to take the laptop to your store in Wilmington, NC or mail it back to HP? Please let me know which way I need to proceed and thanks for your help.
The way things sound, you definately need a new hard drive and battery. as for saving the information, thats a little dicy. its more than probable an expert can, but it may turn out to be difficult. As for where to send it, i'd say take it to the closest best buy and they will be able to help you amptly.
You will only have to upgrade to vista if you buy a new computer as a whole. you can still stay with 2000 if thats what you prefer.
