Question about Intel Motherboard

Machine hanging intermittently

Hi,

I recently upgraded my machine to a pentium IV 3 gHz processor and 2 GB RAM. My operating system is Windows XP professional. Since upgradation, my machine had hung for about three times in 2 weeks (reset button had to used to restart it), What could be the problem ? By the way, I run normal programs like word, excel etc. Nothing extravagant.

Hello,

The first thing you can do is double your RAM. This model has 2 slots that can take 1GB in each.

The second thing is to upgrade your processor. This system can take some of the Pentium D dual Core processors.

Here is a link to the computer on HP's website:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&dlc=en&product=1816979&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

You can see the specs and also get some suggestions and assistance in upgrading.

Thanks for using Fixya.

I would like to improve the speed of my PC. Currently running Soyo KT333 dragon Ultra plus; AMD Athlon 2400+ 2.0GHz; 1.5 GB RAM. What can I upgrade to these days?

Hi.

The motherboard has an athlon xp socket, so you can upgrade your processor to an Athlon xp 2800+, that will give you a boost from 2.0 ghz to 2.250 ghz.

The motherboard can accept ddr333 type ram, to a max of 3 gb's of ram.

The ram increase will probably provide you with a better performance boost than the processor will, and it is most likely alot cheaper as well.

I hope this helps you out, and have a good day.

Windows Not Showing & Not Supporting Actual RAM installed.

make sure that you don't need to overclock your setting (in BIOS ) so as to get full ddr3 frequency. That it, you need to overclock your CPU speed and if you want to work at great speed, try you upgrade you processor.
try a core 2 duo or a quad-core and make sure that it matches with your FSB, with maximum L catch ( 12 mb)

My system is hanged after few minutes

Well the issue could either be with the bas sectors on hard disk or faulty RAM or a burned capacitor on the motherboard.

The very first thing I would suggest you is to reinstall windows operating system. If the issue persists then run the system with another RAM and observe the performance.

if the issue persists then it could be with the motherboard or the power supply. Manually check the capacitors on the board for any leaking or faulty capcitors.

Let me know if you need any further assistance

You can upgrade your pc to intel chipset original motherboard...and do it to intel core 2 duo processor. if u want to upgrade ur ram then go for 1GB ram... and 250 GB hard disk and finally go for pentium-IV and dvd writter... and use microsoft mouse and keyboard bcoz it does not require driver to be installed
