Question about Compaq iPAQ MP4800 Multimedia Projector

Open Question

I am trying to use the DVI connection of my Compaq MP4800 projector with a Motorola DCH3200 cable box, but it doesn't seem to be picking up the signal. I'm using a 25ft HDMI to DVI cable and am sure the cable is fine since it worked when connected to my TV. On my cable box menu I can change the output to DVI or HDMI, 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i, but none seem to make it work. Two times under DVI it appeared on the projector for half a second then went away. Under 480i and 1080 though the projector says "Input Signal Out of Range. Please Change Display Mode". Also, sometimes a blue message appears on the TV saying "your box is not authorized to receive high quality hd content through this digital connection." Not sure what that means since I have the HD channels. Any ideas? Thank you, Jason

Check first if your sound card is working properly.

My Computer >> Right click...Properties >> hardware >> Device manager >> Sound

Then go to Start >> Control Panel >> Sound and Audio Devices .........hit ADVANCED

one dialog appears MASTER VOLUME >> Go to OPTIONS >> Then PROPERTIES..........

CHECK the MICROPHONE...........Hit OK.............

This will be fixing your problem (if your sound card is working well)

Motorola DCH3200 cable box: sound and sometimes video cutting out

Sounds like your SNR is getting too high and causing the signal to overload. A few things can cause this a bad splitter that causes the signal to bleed and introduces noise, or a more common issue is having a weak signal coming from the cable provider and once it goes through a splitter it causes the signal to become to weak to be stable.

Since it sounds like your cable has been working up until recently, you may have had a cable or splitter go bad.

Call comcast and have a technician come out and test the line.

Connecting Macbook with a compaq MP1400 digital projector

You're going to need a conversion dongle that goes from the Mini-DVI to VGA.

Then:
  1. Connect one end of the projector signal cable to the Video Graphics Array (VGA) connector on the projector.
  2. Connect the other end of the projector signal cable to the Digital Video Interface (DVI) connector or VGA connector on the notebook computer and tighten the screws.
  3. Connect the projector power cord to the power cord connector on the projector.
  4. Connect the other end of the power cord to an electrical outlet that is easily accessible and close to the projector.
  5. Turn on the projector first, then turn on the computer.

Motorola DCH3200 Cable Box

Be sure that you took the time to force the output of the DCH3200 to 1080i. They do not seem to come set that way by default! This is true whether you are using either the component or HDMI output.

Power OFF the unit and immediately push the Menu key on the front panel. Using the remote, be sure that the 2nd line of the config is set to 1080i and not something less.

Projector and pc not picking each other up

Hi, Normally your connection should work straight out. Pls verify that your dvi output is enabled/activated by checking your display properties. In a Windows based OS machine, right click on any clear area of your desktop, click on Properties. Click on the settings tab, Advanced button. Check on the different abs such as Monitor, display and others. There should be an indicator for dual view or enabling/activating your secondary display unit (which is your projector). Hope this be of some idea/help. Post back how things turn up or should you need further information. It may also be of help if you can provide info on your PC. Good luck and kind regards.

Greenish display

Had the same problem. Opened the cover and find out that when I press the part above the lump the display become normal. Some loosed connector was my first thought. But, after a while looking and pressing around found out that the cover of the lamp was not placed properly and one corner side of the lamp cover was displaced. Opened it, returned it back to fit properly and the green display is gone. Hope that will not appear again and that is the same "problem" with yours.
