Hi Alice,
from what I have found on the web: This model features a 1440x900 native resolution
I am guessing you that you or a game has changed the resolution to something other than 1440x900.
Assuming you have Windows 7: If you right click on the desktop in an empty spot ie not on a folder or icon, you should be able to see a selection called Screen Resolution, and then after that pulldown box next to the word "Resolution" that allows you to change your resolution to 1440x900. I am assuming a game has changed your resolution to something like 640x480 or something else like 800x600.
If you aren't using Windows 7 go to Start, Control Panel, Display and you should be able to change your display settings there.
Feel free to ask some questions or help from me.
Regards,
Steve

If nothing changes try a lead form another computer-monitor Also when you take the plugs off examine closely (with a magnifying glass) all male pins to see none are bent

New acer desktpo and keyboard first time turned on everything appeared to be working well, turned on second time, screen had small line flashing left hand top corner nothing else. what haave we done wrong?

HI,

Make sure there is no diskette or cd in the drives, and reboot the machine. If it continues to give you the single cursor, then you have other issue to deal with, I'd contact Acer immediately, and return the unit.

Thanks Mark

MY SCREEN KEEPS GOING BLURRED AFTER NOT USING IT FOR 20MINS AND ISNT VERY SHARP . I WIPED XP OFF MY SYSTEM AND PUT ON VISTA AND SINCE THEN MY ACER MONITOR X193HQ IS HAVING THE ABOVE PROBLEMS

Does it do the same when it is hooked up to another PC? If it does, it may have power supply DC filter problem, or worst case will be the LCD panel.

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed ACER monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

All pictures are stretched as well as web pages can't adjust

Make sure to use the native resolution of your screen in your video settings (desktop-properties-), I believe it is 1600 x 900. Then it should look ok.

Cursor is a "box that magnifies"

It sounds as though you have turned on the magnifier accidentally. Go to the start button, than all programs, accessories, accessability, then click on magnifier. That should turn it back off.

Monitor is enlarged, wont return to normal size

Hi, three possible things. 1) You have activated the magnifier. Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, Accessibility, Magnifier - deactivate, should be a small window bottom left of the desktop. or 2) Your screen resolution somehow changed. Right click on any clear part of the desktop, go to properties, Settings Tab. Adjust screen resolution to desired setting then click Apply/OK. or 3)You are in Safemode. Restart and if same large icons etc, do # 2. Hope that this be of some help to you. Pls post how things turn up. Regards
