When you have smoke coming from a dryer, the most likely cause is lint on the element. Clean the element, clean the lint trap filter, (AFTER EACH AND EVERY LOAD), and make sure your vent is clear, free from lint and moisture.

Whirlpool dryer not drying

your dryer is likely clogged up with lint .. that would be after the lint filter .. the pipe that carries the hot air out is usually completely clogged after that long .. it and the dryer itself (down inside) has to be cleaned about once a year to keep it tip top .. hopefully you can find someone that can take it apart and clean everythiing .. that should get you back to like new performance .. or you could call a few handymen to see what they would charge to clean the lint from your dryer and stack .. or if you are handy there is a special big brush with a string attached .. you pull that thru the stack to clean it .. use a vacuum cleaner to get inside the dryer vent (you can see in the vent when you take the hose off .. excessive lint buildup not only greatly reduces your dryers efficiency but is a fire hazzard as well ..

Check for lint build up in the flex pipe connecting the dryer to the vent pipe..
While it's disconnected clean the duct on the back of the dryer..
A great lint cleaner is a "webster duster" on a pole...you can get alot of lint out with one of these..

Lint filter sensor with Error Code: 01 constantly comes on after the dryer is in use for 5minutes or less. Screen is clean, vent from back of dryer to 3ft of flex hose to outside wall is spotless.

Sounds as though the sensor is dirty of faulty. I would recommend having a service tech out to check and replace. Also if the sensor is going bad, it may be tripping it due to the excessive heat.

Kenmore Elite Heavy Duty Dryer 11063012101 Takes Forever to Dry

I think your vent has lint in the line between the wall and the outside of your house not allowing the moisture to get out

FIX

1 when the dryer is running go outside and observe the vent to see if hot air is coming out

2 Turn dryer off, disconnect electric from wall

3 pull dryer out from wall

4 take a nut driver or screw and remove the clamp that attaches the flex vent pipe to the wall

4 Also remove the flex pipe from the dryer

5 Inspect inside vent connection inside dryer for any trapped lint

6 inspect inside flex line for any lint

7 Look inside wall vent for lint you can also reach in with your hand to feel for lint

8 If you have a leaf blower or can borrow one(electric is best) from your neighbor put the snout of the blower into the vent going into the wall seal the area between the snout and the vent pipe at the wall ( i use duct tape you can use wash clothes rags etc

9 start blower and blow any lint in the line out through outside THIS WILL CLEAR THE LINT

10 Reattach the flex to the wall vent and dryer , plug in. run a load and you should be back in business

Good Luck

Dryer is hot but not drying throughly

Hi klsuch.
When a dryer starts taking too long to dry usually there can only be one problem.
A lack of air flow.
To solve this make sure you lint screan is clean everytime you use the dryer and then check the vent in the back of the dryer. Take the vent looses from the dryer and start the dryer and feel the amount of air exiting the machine. If you do not have good air movement then you may have a blockage in the dryer or even a bad blower wheel. If the air pressure is good you may have a blockage somewhere between the dryer vent and the exhaust outside. Once you get all the lint and any little critters that may have built nests in your vent cleared out your problem should be gone. If you find that the blower wheel may be bad let me know and I can help you with the replacement. I hope this will FixYa. Please dont forget to rate me.

Very Hot Top

It appears that your venting system is restrictive to a point that the hot air coming from the exhaust of the dryer cannot get outside due to excessive lint in the line. If possible, can you use a flex line and temporarily vent it out thru a window until your hard-piped vent dries out and can be cleaned properly? These dryers have thermal overloads to shut them down if they get too hot but since you mentioned the heat was near the top in the back.. I would make sure the power cord connections are tight.. ( do this by unplugging the dryer from the wall receptacle) the open the access cover were the cord enters the back of the drier.. then use a screwdriver and and make sure all 3 or 4 wire terminals are tight. A poor or loose contact there is resistive and may get hot enough to cause a fire. Make sure to remove or disable power BEFORE servicing this area.. Hope this helps..
