Question about HP EliteBook 6930p Notebook

I have an HP Elitebook 6930p. I enabled multi-factor authentication utilizing the built in fingerprint reader. It worked for a while but now when I attempt to logon I get the error, "The system could not perform the requested operation. The required biometrics components were not properly installed on the Credential Manager server. If the problem persists, please contact your system administrator." I get this at the credential manager logon wizard screen. I cannot logon to any of my accounts now as a result.

There are two ways to solve the problem:

First solution:

* Reboot the PC. While it is being restarted by pressing the F8 function key. On the screen will display a different kind of start (If we do not even get the pc reboot and press the F8 function key faster;)
* Select "Start in Safe mode"
* When you are prompted to log in using the local administrator account
* Go to services and DISABLE everything that starts with HP
* Reboot the system. Hit f10 while it's starting and disable the security settings (the second colum halfway down). You'll have to configure a password to do it for some reason.
* When you are prompted to log in using the local administrator account
* Go to Start / all program / HP ProtectTool Security Manager FOR ADMINISTRATORS
* Click on Credential Manager and then click Settings
* Deselect the checkbox in the General tab "Use credential manager to log on to Windows"
* You need to logoff
* Select "Logon as a different user" and use a standard domain account.

Second Solution:

At the Windows login screen, do the following:

* Choose "log in as different user"
* Click "log on with Wizard".This will bring up a new login window where you can specify you username, Domain, and password.
* In the bottom left corner of this window is a button labeled "More" Click it, and check the box labeled "Do not logon to Credential Manager"
* Write your username, password and domain in the respective places and log on.
* After successful logon, UNINSTALL CREDENTIAL MANAGER!

If you don't, you will have to repeat the procedure next time you start up your PC again!

Sometimes this solution will works fine:

* Start in safe mode and log on as a local admin
* Start device manager and look under 'Security Devices' for 'TrustedbPlatform Module' - Right click and select uninstall
* Reboot and allow the module to auto-reinstall itself

You should now be able to logon to Windows without receiving a credential manager error. Depending on the versions of Windows you are running you might have to re-register any finger scans you had stored. The problem is the driver becomes corrupted.

Asking fingerprint password


Is the problem that it is asking for a fingerprint password?

You can skip the fingerprint password and log in manually by typing the sequence of Ctrl + Alt + Delete 2 times. This will let you put in an user and password.

Did someone perhaps set fingerprint password while you were not looking?

Browse hp.com for a suitable driver. There is a possibility that it won't work without the correct driver.

you have download from HP FTP. Through HP official website mention your laptop model and service tag number and get download the driver and install the same

did you try to use web cam with another software like msn and see if it is working or not , if yes try to make skype identify web cam again by going to tools menu then options then choose vedio settings it will identify your cam automatically

Log on screens are not recognisable by finger print reader


ok.. please update your related drivers firstly.. but the actual trick is to go

Manage add-ons, and find your related add-on for Explorer (DigitalP in my case on my HP Laptop) and ENABLE it..

also right click My computer on your desktop, then click Manage,
then find and load Biomethric Authentication Service, under services.. (DPHost in my case)

i am almost positive in most cases, enabling your digital finger print reader on MANAGE ADD-ONs secction must help..
