This is called a hard reset. if it works, please rate/vote Thanks!

1. Power Off the PS3 via the power switch in back and power back on w/switch.
2. Hold Power Button on the Front until you hear 3 beeps.
3. Then go through the initial setup and then run a full Format via System > Format. (will take approx 3 1/1 hours). You may need to have our AV cables ready if your using HDMI (in case HDMI isn't detected after initial reset).
4. Restore your backup you made prior to doing factory/hard reset (optional, if you created a backup).

I have an older version of the guide and cannot install it on Vista

The problem with upgraded operating systems and software is the software has compatibility issues.
The only solution short of upgrading your software is to try using windows compatibility mode.
Assuming this program is auto run when the cd is inserted. exit installation.if program previously installed go to control panel-programs and features and remove; If not previously installed, with the cd inserted go to your cd/dvd rom drive in my computer, Usually D drive possibly E drive. Do a RIGHT click and choose explore. Once this has opened, once again right click on Setup.exe and go to properties.
Once there go to tab at top that says compatability and click it.
Check the box that says run this program in (drop Box) and select 98/ME. Apply changes and run setup.
Good luck and should work

We have upgraded to Windows 7 and our castle explorer cd-roms no longer work. is there a newer edition of that wonderful software?

Avanquest have told me that these games simply will not run on newer OS's - I found this out after buying a DK game, thinking I could run it in compatibility mode, but it still did not work. Bottom line, they don't care - unless you have a machine somewhere running XP, there's not much you can do as they really don't seem to care once they have your money.

I think you have stumbled onto the problem Windows comes in two versions...32 bit and 64 bit. It sounds like you have a new laptop with 64 bit operating system, where as your old system was 32 bit. You can confirm it by going to Start >Control Panel >System and look for the line System Type under System section. It will tell you what type it is. Look at your Office package and it will most likely say 32 bit on it.

Here's a link to Microsoft which will explain the difference and answer many questions.

OUR YOU TRY TO CONNECT BOTH LABTOPS TOGETHER TO TRANSFER THE INFORMATION.

THE CABLE MODEM HAS AWAY TO CONNECT TO THE NEW PC.

YOU NEED TO CONTACT YOUR INTERNET PROVIDER AND EXPLAIN YOU HAVE OLD CABLE MODEM AND YOU WANT TO UPGRADE TO THE NEW EQUIPMENT SETUP BUNDLE, THEY WILL SEND YOU A BOOK, CDROM OR DVD, THAT WILL TALK YOU THREW THE NEW PROCIDURES OF HOOKING UP THE NEW SYSTEM.

THE NEW AND OLD SYSTEMS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE IN ANY SINCE BECUASE THE WINDOWS VERSIONS, UPGRADES, SERVICE PACKS, WHAT THE SPEED IS, AND IF YOU HAVE 16BIT, OR 32BIT OR 64BIT SYSTEM, THERE ARE SOME 8BIT SYSTEMS BUT I HAVENT SEEN ONE IN A LONG TIME.

You can install and run a Ulead software for Windows XP on Windows Vista by running
the Program Compatibility Wizard. We do not guarantee full stability for Windows Vista though.
To run Program Compatibility Wizard:

1. Open the "Program Compatibility Wizard" by
clicking the [Start] button, clicking [Control Panel], clicking [Programs],
and then clicking "Use an older program with this version of Windows".

2. Click [Next] when the "Program Compatibility Wizard" dialog box comes up.
3. Select "I want to use the program in the CD-ROM drive" and click [Next].
If the installer is not detected from the CD-ROM drive, please manually browse for the installer executable.
4. Under "Select a compatibility mode for the program" step, please click on "Microsoft Windows XP (SP2)" and click [Next].
5. For the display settings, please click on "Disable Visual Themes" and "Disable desktop composition" then click [Next].
6. Click on "Run this program as an administrator" and click [Next].
7. Click [Next] to start testing the compatibility settings.
This will launch the installer so if you have your firewall enabled, it will prompt for a permission request.
Please grant permission for the setup to continue. 8. The setup will now run.
You can allow it to finish or switch back to the "Program Compatibility Wizard" dialog box.
9. It will ask you if the program ran correctly. Click "Yes..." if no other pop-ups appear.
* Try another compatibility setting if it reports a problem with the display. For the display settings,
enable the option "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" as well.
10. For this next step click "Yes" to send the info to Microsoft and finish the process.
* Now that you have the software installed, you will also have to run the "Program Compatibility Wizard"
for the application to run correctly. Use the same procedure except for step [3],
select "I want to choose from a list of programs". Follow the same procedure for the other steps until you finish the setup.

Hi

Have questions about your upgrade? We've got the answers. What do I need to do to receive my upgrade? Nothing! Just make sure your DIRECTV HD DVR is continuously connected to your land-based phone line and you will receive the upgrade automatically. When will I receive my upgrade? The 6.3 software upgrade will roll out over a period of several weeks. Customers with more than one DIRECTV HD DVR may receive their upgrades at different times for each receiver. We appreciate your patience while we deliver these new and improved features to eligible DIRECTV HD DVR customers nationwide. Are all DIRECTV DVRs receiving this upgrade? No. DIRECTV DVR models SONY SAT-T60, PHILIPS DSR6000R and HUGHES GXCEBOT will not receive the 6.3 software upgrade. Other models received a similar upgrade, 6.2, in the past. I have a DIRECTV R10 DVR with 6.1 software. Will I receive this upgrade? No. The 6.1 software on the DIRECTV R10 DVR already includes the 6.2 features such as folders and faster menu scrolling.
