I was trying to find the previous solutions that were unsatisfactory so that I would not repeat any of the solutions you have previously been given. I did not see any of them. I only saw that you felt the information was useless and that you should not have to pay for this. All remote control troubleshooting is pretty much the same. Before completing any of it make sure you have pressed the cbl/sat button on the remote control (I'm sure you already have but I just want to cover everything) and change the batteries (once again I'm sure you already have). You might need a replacement remote control.

The following is standard remote control troubleshooting: Replace batteries in the remote control, gently with a microfiber cleaning cloth, wipe the IR sensor located on the DVR.

Adjust backlight on your television - if low, turn maximum level, if maximum level turn low

Find out what type of environmental interferences there may be, such as alarm system, other items in the room that function with remotes, (remote controlled fans, remote controlled lights, DVD/DVR/Cable Box/Satellite Box, Stereo), fluorescent lighting (includes the energy saving CFL bulbs), sunlight, smart house (sensor controlled lights and heat) or power lines by the house. Move sources (DVD/DVR/Cable Box/Satellite Box, Stereo) to another area of the room, not in the same IR path

Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs are known to emit certain amounts of infra red radiation that can potentially interfere with electronic devices that use IR remote controls. Using CFL bulbs in sockets connected to a dimmer can result in occasional "pulsing" of light, even when the light switch is turned off

a. Using normal Incandescent bulbs
b. Move the DVR away from CFL light sources
c. Try different CFL bulb brands. Professional Installers have recommended "Bright Effects" CFL bulbs available at Lowes for low amount of interference.

IR repeaters and some PC controlled IR transmitters can interfere, and should not be placed in or directed at the IR path

Unplug and replug DVR (recycle power) for at least 30 seconds.

DirecTV receiver R15 won't respond to remote RC23

Well, I took the DVR apart and found the power board completely intact, no bulging capacitors. However, the Mother Board had a 220uf/50volt cap that was bulging, so I replaced it. By the way, 'DigiKey' is the only place to go for electronic parts. They'll hook you up! The DVR still wouldn't respond to the remote. Darn it!
So I took both of my DVR's apart and swapped out the Front Board (the one with the Photoamplifier in it) and the DVR would now respond to the remote. OK, so now what do I do. I still have one DVR with a bad Front Board. I started to look on ebay for an old used R15 500 that I could swap parts from...remember, I own my eqipment and the goal is to preserve what I have recorded on the Hard Drive. R15's were going for around $50 -$80. Then I got to thinking. I still had an old non-DVR Direct TV Receiver in my closet I never planned to use again. My thought was: even though it wasen't the exact model receiver, it did use the same remote, so the frquency that the Photoamplifier worked at should be compatible.
So I took apart this receiver unsoldered the Photoaplifier. I then removed the Photoamplifier from my malfunctioning DVR and installed the part from my unused Receiver and it fixed it. So long story short(too late for that) the Photoamplifier was faulty. I tried doing some cross checking and a company in China called Raytron makes the part. The failed part did not have a part # and Raytron has several different Photoamplifiers that operate at different frequencies. This made it impossible to find the right part without schematics or knowing what the freqency is. So at least we now know what caused the non responce to the remote.

DISH DVR doesn't respond to remote

  1. If this is a TV2 location take the remote to the location of the DVR.
  2. Open the door on the right side of your receiver.
  3. Press SYS INFO.
  4. Press Record multiple times on your remote.
  5. Exit the screen and see if the remote works, if not replace the batteries and repeat steps 1-4
  6. If the remote still doesnt work, and this is a tv2 location (no receiver in the room with the tv) check the antenna on the back of your receiver, make sure that it is connected tightly and standing straight up.
  7. If none of this works call Dish and ask for a new remote.

I need trhe codes for direct tv for my jumbo remote its a dvr box

Here are the Innovage Jumbo Remote codes for Direct TV satellite boxes:

200, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 209, 210, 211, 212, 213, 214, 215, 216, 217.

If none of these control all of your DVR functions, try adding these DVR codes from other manufacturers:

146, 147, 148, 184

These codes work for Tivo, Replay TV and dvr models made by Panasonic, Philips, RCA, and Sony.

Hope that helps.

Direct receiver is not responding to remote

if you go to: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/contentPageIF.jsp?assetId=P4380052#h:1020.450

it has different remote codes. you would have to select "satellite setop box" also you need the model # of the receiver which can be found (normally) behind a door on the front panel of the receiver on a sticker (where the access card and reset button are) if its not a directv receiver, (hughes, etc) then it would probably be on the back of the receiver you would see a sticker with the model # of this receiver.

the first code should be 00001 follow the instructions on how to program on that website.

New RC64 will NOT setup with R16-500 Direct TV DVR

The Direct TV remote control I'm currently using is a RC64RB I guess the RB stands for radio broadcast? I learned from researching on the internet that the Direct TV DVR receiver has a different setting for each type of remote. The "RB" remote (the one I'm currently using) has an FCC sticker on the back. Direct TV sent me the wrong type of remote control. AND they have wasted hours of my time. The DT technician that I sought answers from is an idiot!!

Direct TV DVR Receiver R15 Code

Try using the remote's "search" feature. If that doesn't work then it's probably not compatible.

Hope that helps...

Can't help with the HD receiver if the code search function didn't find a match. However on the second post, you can find codes for the RCA Universal Remotes at http://www.thompsontv.com/rcarc.html
