Question about Kitchen Appliances - Others

1 Answer

Dear Friends: My mother just showed me her SwissGear Rechargeable Lantern. It has not been used in at least five years. We cannot find the operator's manual. So, we don't know how long it should be charged, what the little lights mean when they burn or why it did not come on after being charged for several hours. The biggest help you could give us is to direct us to a website where we can download and print a manual. If that is not an option, then please answer the questions which are asked above. Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Robert L. Fuller

    Dear Eyecue:
I cannot find a model number. It has twin fluorescent lamps. On the base are three small lights colored red, green and yellow. There is also a small clear light at the base of the fluorescent bulbs. There is a compass at the top, a handle that contains a hook, a push button switch and the logo of a white cross in a red square over the word SWISSGEAR. On the bottom it says it is made in China and that patents are pending in the U.S. and European Community. Can you help me? I hope so.

    Sincerely,

    Robert L. Fuller

    Dear Eyecue:
Thank you for the information about what the lights mean. I am home from my mother's now. I brought the lantern with me, but left the charger at her house. I will see her again in two weeks. So, there is only one more thing you can do for me. Can you give me a website for the manufacturer? I would still like, if possible, to download an operator's manual for the light. Or, could you send me a manual as an attachment to your reply to this message? I really feel that a manual will meet all my needs. Thank you for your continued attention to this request.

    Sincerely,

    Robert L. Fuller

Swissgear rechargable lantern won't light up, even though the green led light indicates it is fully charged

There are several different models of the Swiss Gear rechargeable lantern. On most though, you can remove the top portion of the lantern and check the lighting element inside. In most cases the elements can be removed and replaced. I have a dual filament lantern and from experience I know that every so often you may have to go buy a replacement light piece. If the lantern has been bumped or even just strapped to the outside of the pack while walking, it's possible for those elements to become loose and need repositioning or replacement so do check that. I'm sure that it should be unlikely your charger is malfunctioning unless you left it plugged in for some very extended period of time, in which case I would say the light would be more likely to burn out. But definitely try that and if that doesn't work the battery pack on the lantern itself may have an issue in which case you can always get a replacement.

I am trying to find a 120 Volt AC adaptor for my Swissgear lantern.

The adapter need to match the charge voltage requirements of the battery in the Swissgear lantern.
This voltage maybe written on a label on the lantern.
i suggest go to the shop where you purchased the lantern for the charge adapter.

Lights on Rechargable Lantern.. Swissgear SG66301

I don't know how to solve your problem but, the three lights mean this:
Red LED light indicates the battery is being charged
Green LED light indicates that the battery is fully charged
Amber LED light incidates that the battery power level is low - the battery needs recharge.
Do not recharge you battery over 24 hours.
