Question about Taylor & Digital Scale Lithium Scale

Open Question

I have a Taylor 7404 Lithium scale. It does not light up when I step on the scale. When I press the kg/st/lb button underneath, the scale will light up for a bit. Does that mean I need to replace the batteries?

SOURCE: Tanita, the Ultimate Scale

The scale may have instructions on the bottom of the scale. (Example for the Tanita: The Ultimate Scale w/ the body fat analysis). The instructions on the back state the following steps: Step 1: press both the "Set" and the triangle buttons. Step 2: press the "triangle" button until you select the appropriate weight measurement (a) kilogram, (b) stone lbs or (c) lbs. Step 3: press the set button.

SOURCE: Err 1 message on Taylor Lithium Elec Scale model 7346

This is a reply I received from Taylor customer support. I have followed this procedure enough times to wear out the original battery and still get the Err 1 message. You may have better luck.

Thank you for your e-mail. The reboot below may clear the error from
your scale. You may need to do this several times to completely reboot
the system. Please let us know if you have any questions or continue to
display the Error.

1. Remove the battery from the scale
2. Set the scale on the floor without the battery in place.
3. Stand on the scale for 10 seconds (still without the battery)
4. Carefully replace the battery without turning the scale on.
5. Using only one foot, tap the scale or apply just enough pressure to
turn on the display. (It should show dashes or zero's) IMMEDIATELY
REMOVE YOUR FOOT.
6. Let the scale turn off
7. Step on the scale for a weight reading

They are very useful. They can guide you through problems, provide you with instructions and might send the user manual via email.

I hope you get this fixed. Scales are very tricky!

I replaced the batteries and followed the instruction.

You need to initialise the weighing process by tapping your foot on to the scale to start it...but wait for it to zero...then step on it.
