If this is like our LG refrigerator, the control panel is just a dumb display and switches, and the actual microprocessor controlling everything is on another board. The lights on the display may actually be used as a status indicator of what is wrong. The decode of these light may be on the schematic of the refrigerator, which may be in an envelope behind the front kick plate, behind a removable back plate, or under a cover on top of the refrigerator.

Sounds like you need a new display pwb. The flapper for the ice works on a solenoid which is on a little board that is behind the display board. When the power is cut the flapper should close as it is on a spring. I don't believe that there is any worries of it catching fire. Have a tech come and replace the board for you.

Lights on panel blinking. ice dispenser keeps opening and closing

there is the HV board on the back under a cover . 2 680uf capacitors @ 35v are likely domed instead of flat on the top and are likely hot. replacing these with an equal value will cure the problem. they are in parallel so 1000 and 470uf will cure it. mine was same model except white. local dealer said no warranty. did not call maytag but he indicated it might help. good luck

The ice trap door won't stop cycling open and closed and the control panel on the door is blinking all of the lights

Called maytag with model and serial number. This is a very common problem. They sent a new mother board free of charge within a couple of days. You will have to go to the back of the fridge to swap mother boards. It was pretty simple if you have a little patience. Maytag wanted to charge $200 for the service call but it took my husband about twenty minutes. Then you will need to reprogram with the code inside of the door. I was told that this happens alot if there is a power surge, so I now have the fridge on a surge protector. Haven't had a problem since. Hope this helps.

When the light switch in the freezer goes out (by me holding the the switch in or by closing the door) there is a noise that comes from the ice maker. Turn the light on, it stops. Any ideas? The noise is a...

The door switch is designed to turn off the dispenser control when the door is open and the light comes on. Pressing the switch with the door open turns on the dispenser controls and the sounds of relays and solenoid coils would be normal unless it is affecting your dispenser or ice maker. ICEMAKER FROSTING UP

Try to take some ice from the dispenser. Remove the glass and open the freezer door to look down inside the dispenser chute and see if the trap door has re-closed. If it remains open warm, humid air will enter the ice bucket and gradually freeze the cubes together. Trap door remaining open is generally caused by a rusted electrical coil which pulls the door open electrically then sticks, unable to re-close. Coil is located behind the panel that operates the dispenser. Relatively easily accessible.

Ice maker "ticking" sound?

Mine started doing the same thing. The problem with mine was that the part that spins around to eject the ice is hung up... first, it was trapping an ice cube in it... I cleared the cube and it stopped making noise for a while, then a cube hung up again. Now I found that one of the 'teeth,' all the way to the right, was stuck under the housing... the part is bent, and needs to be replaced.

Check the part that spins to make sure nothing is stuck. Service is expected in home soon (I hope).

No water or ice through door

sounds like the dispenser assembly is not sensing that the trap door is opening fully, so it wont send power to the auger motor or fill valve. If you are pretty handy, you can disassemble the door and take out the dispenser assembly and try to take the assembly apart and correct the throw on the trap door. Otherwise, I'm afraid you need a new dispenser to the tune of about $250 parts and $225 trip and labor. Good luck!
