SOURCE: Removing standard stereo?? How??

If the existing stereo is a double din, there will likely be screws to remove to get it out on a bracket. Depending on the make and model of the vehicle, there will be more or less to take apart to get it out. There is usually a way to get at the stereo without taking the whole dash apart. Look for seams in the near vicinity of the stereo. There may be screws or pop-clamps/fasteners or both. Screws are usually shielded from view by being installed under a piece of the dash that is merely pinch clamped on (can be carefully pried off - best to use a screwdriver tip wrapped in several layers of paper folded over it or a towel, or your fingers) If screws were used to fasten on the first piece of facing they may be accessible under ash tray or compartment drawer covers, tilting portions of heater/ac registers (some Toyota Tundras, and Sequoias are like this), or just fastened in a slant down position that you cant see from normal sitting position (try looking at the surrounding dash from down close to the seats). There may be a couple of pieces of the dash to remove to get to it. Do some more close looking around and see if any of these tips help.

SOURCE: Removing standard stereo?? How??

To remove a standard vx commodore stereo(i own a vx ss) you will notice that on the face of the stereo on either side there are 2 holes. You will need a u shaped tool that inserts into these holes. the insertion parts will be approx 5 cm long. If you use a metal coat hanger or some decent tie wire of the same gauge insert them into the 4 holes and you should hit the holders after 3 or so cm holding them close to the chasis of the radio. when you hit the holders move the wire tools off the radio chasis a lil bit and insert a half cm more. Then make them sit against the radio chasis, this will push the retainers in enough for you to pull out the radio. With the proper tool it is easier as it has a little hook on the end so you can pull it as well, but being as you dont have the proper tools you may need an extra set of hands. job done.

If not drop into your local stareo installation place, only takes 30 seconds to do with the right tools.

P.S. dont forget to pick up a loom adaptor when your there so that you dont have to cut into the loom to wire your new stereo in.

As for the speakers there should be 2 cutouts in the rear parcel shelf that you can just knock out to install the 6x9s into. I have rear speakers in my rear doors. for some reason holden thought this was better than parcel shelf speakers.

2008 Holden Colorado wont start and no dash lights

Check your ecm fuse, or your main power relay fuses, basically just check all the fuses under the dash and under the hood, if there are a few relays under the hood, you can try and swap the ac relay with the power relay as long as they have the same numbers on them. If all the fuses are good, it is most likely a relay, or the ignition switch itself

How to remove the car stereo from 2007 Chevy Colorado

This is not hard but tricky because the trim plate around the radio has clips that hold the trim plate very tight.Use a plastic type flat tool or flat screw driver wraped with tape or a shop rag to avoid damage to the plastic trim and pry the trim panel around the radio loose. remove all elec connectors. Then remove the screws that hold the radio in place and remove all elec connectors.

then what you do is put all four screwdrivers in the holes and squeeze the screwdrivers for example press the top one's down and the bottom one's up and pull and jiggle and you should get it out...

I am actually looking to replace my standard one if you are interested in selling it please email me jai.siddiqui@gmail.com
