yea sure its a htc hero, and im using wireless unlocking .com

  • kingdevil3z Oct 17, 2010

so far so good but i don;t have my phone working yet so i'll be much happier when it does but very happy with the speed of response to my question

  • kingdevil3z Oct 17, 2010

Thanks again I entered the dec # and it verified it fine I hope that works. It said it will send me and email when the code is generated. What i am trying to do is... My family company switched from sprint to verizon so i had to give up my hero. I want it back.... hense trying to operate the hero on verizon, now the phone that is on the verizon plan, the one i don;t want i'd like to just leave powered off and use my hero which still has my original phone # programmed, and the one verizon is usiing does this sound possible ?

  • kingdevil3z Oct 17, 2010

Well basically I want to throw the phone out the window that verizon gave me. I have retained my original # for many providers over the years, and i'd like to keep that # yes. So if this unlock process goes as planned I am looking to have my original # ring and function on the hero, even if that means having to call verizon and switch directory paths to the hero, which I would rather not do but if theres no other way to get the hero back in action then whatever.

  • kingdevil3z Oct 17, 2010

Thanks man I really appreciate all the advice before spending time and money at this problem. I really think if the codes unlock the phone out of sprint's captivity then verizon should have no faults with directing my number to a diff. MEID # because thats all a phone really is to the provider correct.

Hello, and thanks for using FixYa.

Does the site mention anything about HEX? If not - then use the DEC:

if you could tell me the brand and model of the phone and the website your using to unlock I could check.

Okay, their website is quite simple, no new information there. Basically hex or dec, while letter are different, it provides the same information, enter the HEX, if it complains then enter DEC.

  • Ekse Oct 17, 2010

Sounds possible aside from being able to keep the old phone number. Well, I'm not completely sure about that. maybe I misunderstood...

  • Ekse Oct 17, 2010

Over here in Europe, we use sim cards in every phone, and the number is tied to that sim card. Its a bit different over there, in the US. I'm guessing you will be able to keep the number but I'm not fimiliar with how it happens.

Is an MIED number and IMEI number the same thing?

They are different technologies, but for the same thing.
Short answer:

MEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) are numbers unique to every GSM and UMTS mobile phone used to identiry valid devices. IMEI are 15 digits long. (AT&T, T-Mobile)

MEID (Mobile Equipment Identifiers) are unique numbers found on CDMA mobile phones. MEID are 15 alpha-numeric digits long followed by six zeros and a serial number. (Verizon, Sprint, MetroPCS)

Hope that help,

I dropped my samsung in the toilet so i want to actvate an old one i had until i can replace it but i cant find an meid number on the one i need to use. there is no 14 digit number for it

Thanks for visiting FixYa!

The MEID number can usually be found in two places on your phone.

1) Remove the battery. Under it, there should be a small sticker attached to your phone. Your ESN/MEID number should be on it.

2) If you are unable to find it under your battery, put your battery back in your phone and boot it up. Then press the following keys: * # 0 6 # (Star, Pound, Zero, Six, Pound) Your phone should display your ESN/MEID number.

I am looking for unlock code

When you place a new or a existing SIM card from another phone provider into a different cell phone and it asks for a Security Code then :-
This phone is locked to the original mobile phone provider. You need to contact this mobile provider to ask for the unlock code (Security Code) for this phone. You need to provide proof of ownership etc
1)To get the security code/restriction code to unlock thecell phone from the current cell phone service provider
2)If your phone provider does not help you then this WEB site it provides security codes for a small price. http://www.mobileunlockstore.com/?gclid=CKDb2_y2558CFSlJagodxBkDHw
3)Try this WEB site also - UnlockFree http://www.unlock-free.com
4)You can also try this WEB site :-
http://www.mobileunlockguide.com/mobile-phone/
5)For Nokia phone - try this WEB site too :-
www.unlock-free.com/nokia-master
6)The IMEI number is unique the each mobile phone.
The number is printed on the label under the battery.
You can also get the IMEI number by entering this on your phone
*#06# It will then display your IMEI number and you may also get a unique global serial number. Your IMEI number should be 15 digits.
