Question about SanDisk 1GB Memory Stick M2 Memory Card

1 Answer

I'm using a Sandisk 1gig Memory Stick, but suddenly it has far less than 1gig to give. I mainly use this stick for my Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) for save files or such. Right now it has one 341.6mb game saved to it and four KB-area Save Files, nothing else. but the card claims that I have only 99 mb left. When looking on my computer, I can find the folders for the save files and games, but cannot find whatever is eating up the other roughly 600 mb of space. Why does my card suddenly have so much less space?

Because it requires that much space to write files to boot the games

if i were you, i'd save the games on your hard disk and format the 1G memory stock -- buy a larger capacity , such as 4G or 8G

please leave me positive feedback

Have you tried to format in the PSP. Go to System in the main menu, then system settings, then format memory stick. I purchased a new chip for mine and it did not show as storage till i did this. Insert or remove chip only when unit is powered off. If it still does not work take it to the store and have it checked. Hope it helped.

  1. Try re-formatting your memory stick from your PSP console. A memory stick that is formatted from a PC or other hand held console sometimes cause incompatibility problem with the PSP.
  2. If your PSP still can not read the memory stick, try checking your memory stick by using your friends PSP and see if they can access the memory stick.
  3. If the memory stick can be accessed by your friends PSP then there is a problem with the memory slot of your PSP.
  4. The only way to check the contacts of the memory slot of your PSP is to disassemble you PSP and take out the mother board.

Hi,
Well your memory stick can be used for many things, however its main feature is to save data, you can save the progress of any game. You can also save your fotos, videos, music, themes for your psp, and wallpaper.
To save files from your computer simpli connect your psp via usb and under settings select usb connection... your computer should detect your psp automatically and you will be able to save your files on the corresponding folder

If you have important data on you memory stick, back them up on your computer. Then format the memory stick with your PSP. After that, put all your PSP data from the computer back onto your memory stick.

See if the PSP recognizes your memory stick. Hope that works! ^-^

Save downloaded games

well, you'll require a modified firmware inorder to play games from your mem stick......now installing a custom firmware or downgrading is a risky process , so do it at your own risk! once that's done, you'd require a "ripkit" to compress the image incase if it doesn't fit in to the 1 gig stick.....get ripkits for all games from http://forums.maxconsole.net/
