You can open the case, and follow the wire from that port to the main board and unplug it. That will disable that USB port.

When I plug in my ez connect adapter to the USB port the computer re boots over and over

Damaged usb port? See if contacts are bent. Bad wifi adapter is possible. Try another wireless device in the port (mouse, keybd) to see if port is okay. Some adapters require that you install software before using, but this should not cause reboots.

I got a new transcend USB jetflash drive 16GB, but my system not showing any response towards it, what shall i do..??? is to download a software for it...??

Flash drives do not need a drivers (plug and play). There are several possibilities:

1. Assumptions: USB port error, computer drivers normal, normal flash drive.
Solution: insert a flash drive into another USB port. If the USB port 1 is not detected, insert flash drive into a USB 2, USB 3 or USB 4.
2. Assumption: normal USB ports, computer driver error, a normal flash drive
Solution: reinstall the chipset drivers, or USB.
3. Assumption: normal USB port,
computer driver normal, flash drive is broken
Solution: try to insert the flash drive into another computer. If the flash drive is not detected, it means your flash drive is damaged.

Solution to determine the cause of damage:
1. If you have a USB mouse, use the mouse to check the damage to the USB port. Example: connect the mouse to the USB 1, USB 2, USB 3 or USB 4. If every USB port, mouse is detected, the conclusion normal USB port
2. To check your computer's drivers, right-click My Computer - Properties - Hardware - Device Manager

3. If points 1 and 2 are normal, the possibility of flash drive damaged.
Because the new flash drive, flash drive is most likely normal. Based on experience, cause damage to the flash drive is a USB port is dirty. The USB port is dirty, can cause short-circuit flash drive. The characteristics of short-circuit flash drive. When inserted into a USB flash drive (about 5 seconds), the temperature of the flash drive become extremely hot. If there are problems like this, immediately unplug the flash drive, to prevent permanent damage.

I hope this information helps.

For some reason the computer cannot find or recognise my camera and keeps saying communication error ?

Ok. there're three possible causes for this. I'll list them and the relevant procedures of resolution by probability of occurrence.
  1. Damaged data cable- (confirmed if the following 2 doesn't fix the problem) if this is the case, you need to get a new cable.
  2. Damaged USB port on computer- Confirm by trying to connect cam to a different port (i.e.- try the rear ports if you were using one on the front) or to a different computer. If this is the case, you need to get a USB expansion card that will give your computer some extra USB ports.
  3. Damage on camera's side (could range from a simple broken port tab to circuit damage) confirm by: connecting a different camera to your computer using the same data cable. If this is the case you will have to take the camera to where you bought it from for repair (remember to check whether you can still claim your warranty.)

I plug it into usb port, i downloaded driver from manufactors website, yet nothing happens. The mouse will not work.

No need for a mouse to have a driver, friend. Try to insert into other usb port...wait till the computer initialize and configure your mini mouse...
If the problem still exist...restart your pc to initialize the mouse...Done!
If still nothing happen...besides you try all the usb port in your pc. I think you need to buy new good mouse...Done

If I Insert USB in the USB entrance before I start my PC it will hang up until i remove it I think problem in USB entrance how can I solve it? thnx

It is my pleasure to guide you.

A computer has USB ports on the back and on the front of most modern units. USB is what is called "usb hot swap". The pc can be on when the USB devices are plugged in or unplugged and the OS should recognize it. So if the pc hangs up there may be something else wrong.

1. Try unplugging all USB devices, boot the pc without any plugged in. Choose one device and plug it into each port. Wait until the OS recognizes the device. You will see a box come up with different options, one is at the bottom that allows you to open explorer. You can pick it or just hit the escape key to void the selection. (You do not need to reboot to try the rest of the USB Ports) Do this to all USB ports, both front and back. I know this will take time but you need to eliminate all the USB ports to make sure they are not the problem. Once you know that the USB ports are all good then the next step is

2. Now take each device and plug one at a time into any of the ports. I would use one on the front of the pc, makes it easier. Again let the OS see that it is there and prompt you for action.

3. If all your devices work after this testing, then plug everything back in and reboot the pc.

4. Have you made any changes in the BIOS? May be reset the BIOS lately?

This may sound like strange question but have you installed the OS to the USB device? Some Devices/OS's/PC's allow booting from USB devices. If the computer is trying to boot from USB it will cause terrible slow down in perfromance, check your "Boot Priority" Settings in the BIOS? The boot priority should list the HD Drive as the first boot drive.

Good luck and please post back that you are successful, giving thumbs up, or that I can be more help.

Front usb port pin bent when plugged in device...computer imediately died...will not power up now

Ah.. That's not so good.
The new USB 2.0 ports carry a bit of power and can burn out things if they get shorted.

It is lucky that this was a front port and not a rear one.
As the front ports are generally connected to the motherboard by a cable that you should be able to find and disconnect the (With the power off, PC unplugged)

It is possible that with the damaged USB Port removed, the PC may boot and operate as normal.
If this doesn't help, you can try replacing the PC's power supply as it also might have gotten fried by the short.

If neither of these work then it would appear that your motherboard's power controlling circuits got fried and replacing it would be the only option left.

Good luck!

Whenever I insert my pen drive into my pc,it restarts computer. what is the problem ?

if this is only happening on 1 usb port, there is a short in that port that is causing you PC to shut down. Your motherboard BIOS is probably set to reboot on power loss which means it will boot right back up if it shorts out.

If it happens on every USB port then your pen drive is faulty and I would refrain from inserting it anymore before you damage your hardware.

If the pen drive works on someone elses computer, then it sounds like the SOUTHBRIDGE chip (chip on motherboard that controls USB, PCI slots, firewire ports, etc) is going bad or is faulty.

Hardware problem - not booting into windows

One of your usb ports is either damaged or has an object stuck in it causing a short. Unplug all usb devices and look at each port. Note if one looks slightly different from the others. There is a plastic tab that fits into usb plugs. If this tab is bent and touches the side of the port, it can cause the short. If this is the case you may be able to either clean out or bend back the bent tab.
