I am unable to change the resolution on my Dell laptop. I think I might have an old driver and not sure which one or where to download. I have a Dell Inspirion E1505. The screen looks stretched out and awkward.

How to change your Windows 7 display settings

In Windows 7 there are serveral ways to get to your display settings. I have detailed them below in options so that you can access them as needed.

Option 1

Right click on your desktop and select "Screen Resolution"
Option 2

1. Right click on your desktop and select "Personalize"

2. Next click on "Display"

3. Click on "Adjust resolution"

Option 3

1. Click the Start button and click Control Panel

2. Next click on "Display"

3. Click on "Adjust resolution"
Once you are in the Screen Resolution you can set the resolution you want.

Note the resolution that is set now is a wide screen resolution. If you have a standard monitor the equivalent resolution would be 1280 x 1024.

After you have made the needed changes click on Apply then OK to save your changes.

Note if you are still have trouble with your monitor displaying right you may need to install the monitor drives. Windows is not going to have the actual drivers for all monitors. So in picture below you will see where is shows "Generic PnP Monitor" this means that the computer is using a generic driver. You can access this screen by clicking on "Advance Setting".

If you need to install the monitor drivers the link below will take you through the steps of installing the monitor drivers.

Screen size reduced after changing os

From which OS to which OS, and on which PC Model is this?
Suggestion is to download the latest driver from the manufacturer website for the correct OS you have just installed.
If else, goto you Display Resolution (On Windows 7 it right click on your Desktop and selecting Resolution) and adjust from there.

After turning on the computer the screen resolution changes to the minimum quality and I fix it., but if you restart it, the resolution changes again to the minimum.

you fix it by installing the video driver? if you do so, then try to check if your computer is in a deep freeze or you happen to install deep freeze and activate it. try to deactivate it first so your changes will be save.

It depends upon the notebook you use if it support the resoulution you want. You can change the resolution by display properties in control panel. Also 1280*800 is used only by widescreen desktop or laptops.
