You have a bad gas valve or the ignitor is bad,just because it glows doesn't mean it's good,it opens the valve by amps.you need an amp meter with a clamp on attachment,stick one of the ignitor wires in the clamp and read it out,it should be 3.5 amps but if the ignitor is new i would change out the gas valve,also check the wires on the valve and read out the valve with a meter.also if the ignitor is glowing but the flame isn't liting you're having problems with the gas coming in,when the ignitor reaches 3.5 amps it opens the gas valve and the flame ignites,check the burner tube to make sure the old ignitor didn't burn a hole through it,you can check the orifice to make sure it's open,read the valve out and if all are good change out the gas valve.let me know what you find

When I turn on the oven to bake, nothing happens.

Hello, welcome to fixya ! Based on your description I suspect you have a faulty bake ignitor. This may surprise you, or it may not. I think at first it surprises people when the hot surface ignitor glows but the oven won't lite. Since the ignitor "glows" one figures it would appear to be working, that would be wrong. These ignitor's serve 2 functions, 1) need to maintain a set value to open/activate the gas valve, typically around 3.5amps... & 2) ignite the fuel once said valve is open. A poor/faulty ignitor may glow & and even ignite the burner intermittently for moments at a time ( thus giving off some heat but never the set amount or not at all ) but yet not reach the needed value to open the valve consistently nor adequately, hence the need to replace the bake ignitor. Other times, like yours, it won't glow at all, but manifest in the same end result...no flame. Try this and I'm certain you'll be up & running and as they say " cookin' with gas" ! I'd suggest you should refer to your specific model when ordering the part locally or on-line. The most common hot surface ignitor part is #12400035 Try places like repairclinic.com, searspartsdirect.com, APwagner.com etc. Thank's for visiting "fixya" for your stove inquiries. The oven wont turn on the gas range works the broiler works but i cant use the oven to bake i t says pre heat and does nothing

Find the bake ignitor (you may need to remove bottom drawer or oven cavity floor to get to the ignitor). Turn on the bake. If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. Amperage should be 2.5-3A. If less than 2.5A - replace ignitor. If the ignitor does not come on - check the voltage on the ignitor, should be the line voltage 110-120v AC. If there is a line voltage on the ignitor and it's not coming on - replace.
Ignitor part numbers : WB2X9154, 4342528, SGR403, 5304401265;

Those ignitors are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires. If not comfortable splicing wires - replace it with the first one in the list, should be direct replacement.

Good luck!

My GE Profile spectra JGBP79 oven does not turn on---gas oven

Turn off the gas supply to the range. Remove the oven racks,oven base pan,flame spreader.

Place a clamp on amp meter on one wire of the ignitor and turn the oven on to BAKE. When the ignitor glows it should read more than 3 amps. If it reads 3 amps or less replace the ignitor.
If it does not glow at all,replace the ignitor.

Find the bake ignitor (you may need to remove bottom drawer or oven cavity floor to get to the ignitor). Turn on the bake. If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. Should be 3 - 3.6A. If less than 3A - replace ignitor. If the ignitor does not come on - check the voltage on the ignitor, should be the line voltage 110-120v AC. If there is a line voltage on the ignitor and it's not coming on - replace. Part number is 74008064.

Keep in mind, ignitors are fragile.

Good luck!

Kenmore gas oven 362.7163191 wont light, what could be the problem ?

The glow bar ignitor in the oven is going bad. Remove the oven racks. Remove the base pan in the oven. This gives you access to the glow bar.
Turn the gas off to the oven. Place a clamp on amp meter on one wire of the ignitor and turn the oven on to Bake. If the amp draw is 3.2 or less,replace the glow bar ignitor.

Oven glow plug not turning on to bake

Find the bake ignitor (you may need to remove bottom drawer or oven cavity floor to get to the ignitor). Turn on the bake. If the bake ignitor comes on (starts glowing after a few seconds) - check the amperage on the bake ignitor wires when it's on. If the ignitor is a round style - amperage should be 2.5-3A, if the ignitor is rectangular - 3 - 3.6A. If less than 2.5A or 3A respectively - replace ignitor. If the ignitor does not come on - check the voltage on the ignitor, should be the line voltage 110-120v AC. If there is a line voltage on the ignitor and it's not coming on - replace.
Ignitor part numbers for round style ones: 4342528, WB2X9154, SGR403, 5304401265;
rectangular styles: 12400035, WB13K21, WB2X9998, SGR412, NR020, 5303935066, 814269, 9753108.
Ignitors of the same shape (i.e. rectangular) are interchangeable, if you can splice the wires.

Good luck!

LOOKS LIKE NO GAS TO OVEN. GLOW STICK LIGHTS IS YELLOW-BROILER LIGHTS...GLOW STICK SAME COLOR AS OVEN'S

You need a new thermostat for the oven. It isn't picking up the heat from the ignitor. They're relatively cheap and easy to replace.
