Amazingly, I was able to locate exact info for this model - but the true answer will lie in whether it is a V2665AU or US.

For the --US: 1.8 GHz AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Processor ML-34 with PowerNow!™ Technology - 1MB L2 Cache - more info at: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?docname=c00617823&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

For the --AU: product page is at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/prodinfoCategory?lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&dlc=en&product=3213899.
However, the site does not provide the specific model info for the motherboard as it did with the US - you will likely have to contact them with the serial number for the information if this is your model (reference at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/contacthp?lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3213899&dlc=en

Best of luck and please post back if you need further help.Thank you for using and rating FixYa!

Computer comes on but nothing show on monitor u can hear the fan but nothing show on the monitor

  1. Make sure that your monitor cable is plugged into the back of the computer, also sometimes depending on the setup of your computer there can be 2 places to plug you monitor into on the motherboard, if you see another port that looks the same try plugging it into that one and try again.

I have it connects to my compaq hp presario f700 laptop and there are faint lines moving in the background of my display. SO i connected it to my Compaq presario CQ60 Laptop and the lines were gone. How do...

you need to adjust the screen refresh rate.

right click on the desktop, then select "properties" then the "settings" tab for XP or "personalize" then "display settings" for vista/7. next, select "advanced" for xp or "advanced properties" for vista/7". finally, select the "monitor" tab and try other refresh rates until you find the one that eliminates the lines.

if this does not fix it, then you may need a new monitor cable.

Hi, my compaq presario sr2032x wont boot. Power light is ON, PSU light is green. CPU fan runs at full speed. I can hear HD sound too. No display. Keyboard light would blink once and then nothing. It was...

Actually it boots, just that you don't see it. Try using another monitor - even a tv will do: disconnect the present monitor, connect the new one and reboot. If you get an image then the monitor is dead, replace it. If you don't then the onboard video card id dead, get a new one and try again. If even now it.s dead then you need a new motherboard.

My Compaq Presario SR2172NX desktop fan keep

Its good to keep like that since PCs need cooling regularly. Not like laptops. Laptops are designed based on architectures which provides cooling internally. Using copper pipes is an example. Anyway there are ways to control the fan speed. Before that check which fan that runs constantly. There are several fans in a system unit. Such as CPU fan, Graphic controller fan, chassis fan, extra coolers. First thing is that you have to adjust your power scheme. Go to control panel and then power options. Select appropriate settings.
If you use Vista as the OS this is a common problem since its visual effects eat the cpu. Specially that side bar and other things and drivers.
Check whether you have a process which is using 100% cpu using task manager. (Processes tab in task manager). If so either you have to stop it or terminate it of its a hanged program.
There are options to control the fan speed in your bios. Check the bios. To enter bios you can use one of these keys. Del, F2, F10 or Esc. One will let you in. Check the fan options and specially for a QFan option. You have to adjust the settings to control the fan. Finally there are hardware controllers which controls the fan speed near the fan (built in to the fan or near the fan's plug on the mother board). You can adjust them if you need to.
Please rate the answer if it helps you to overcome the issue. Thanks for contacting Fixya

Compaq Presario 3000 incredibly slow firing up, opening up anything. Loud fan all the time too

This advice relates to the Compaq Presario 3000 Notebook series but may also apply to other notebook computers as well.

The heat sink and fan assembly is probably clogged with dust and airborne particles. The clogged cooling parts can lead to heat problems with the CPU. When the system (CPU) gets to hot, the fan has to kick into high gear to try to cool things down. Once you remove dust and debre from the heat sink fins and fan, you will immediately experience better cooling and less fan usage. Your system may also be set for dynamic switching of CPU speed. If you CPU gets too hot, the system will reduce clock speed and ramp up fan and everything will slow way down. Use a good system monitoring software such as Notebook Hardware Control to monitor your CPU temperature, HDD temp and so forth. When the system starts getting too hot, first look at clogged heat sink fins as possible culprit. If you're good at electronics you may be able to service the unit yourself. Get a copy of the system's Maintenance and Service Manual or have a professional do the job for you as you will have to partially disassemble the computer to clean out the heat sink. Depending on the system, the job can take as little as 15-20 minutes once you become proficient at it.

System temperature too high

Do you still have your manual? If not download it from Gigabyte at this link:http://www.giga-byte.com/Products/Motherboard/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=2637
Enter your bios & open manual to page 51, "PC Health Status". Here you can monitor the CPU temp, system temp & CPU fan speed. Notice the manual shows the example of system temp to be 30degs C & current CPU Temperature is at 47degs C. One would think these temps are reasonable. My CPU fan runs between 3308Rpm & 3341Rpm. CPU @ 41deg C & MB @ 31deg C. AMD 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.21 GHz.
Suggest you try this. If your running Win XP. Open system properties. Click the Advanced tab. Click the settings button under
Startup and Recovery. Remove the check mark to the left of, Automatically restart. Windows should provide an error message if & when the system freezes. This will help in finding what is causing the system to freeze. If your CPU fan is running under 3000Rpm you might consider buying a faster fan or add a case fan to the side of the case to help bring in fresh air to blow onto the CPU fan & PCI-Express card. Here is a decent lace to look for case fans: http://www.xoxide.com/casefans.html

Keep me up to date andr_zero.
Good luck!
Mike
