Question about Cisco Photosmart C4780 Wireless AllInOne Printer With Linksys By Cisco WirelessN Broadband Router

1 Answer

I've been scanning in drawings and the drawings each have some words at the bottom of the page. When I scan it, only the words appear to be recognized but not the drawing. It was working fine before, why is this happening all of a sudden?

May be you have written the words in darker ink and drawing might have been in pencil! scanner usually recognises dark areas and adjusts the picture based on it! make sure you darken the drawing as much as those words!

How do I scan multiple pages to make one document ?

To scan multiple images into one file:

  1. Go to Start, Programs (Windows XP: All Programs), Lexmark , Lexmark All-In-One-Center.
  2. Place your first scan on the scanner glass. Press Preview Now to see what the scan will look like.
  3. Under Scan... Send scanned images to, select Microsoft Word (or the relevant software).
  4. Click See More Scan Settings.
  5. Next, click on Display Advanced Scan Settings.
  6. Under the Scan tab, look for an option towards the bottom that reads Scan multiple items before output, and select it.
  7. Click Scan Now.
  8. After each scan, you will be asked if you would like to scan another document. You can select either Yes or No.
  9. Click on Yes to continue after each scan until you have scanned in all of your pages.
  10. When you have scanned all your pages, click on No. One of two things will then happen:
A screen will appear which will allow you to save all your pages in a single file to a destination of your choosing.
The software package you have chosen to scan your item to will open with the scanned image displayed.

source is fro the link below. I do not own a Lexmark and hence could not verify

Change scanned doc. to go to word not pdf

Depends on the document. If there are images and the type is handwritten. First scan the type as OCR scan so it scans only the text, a new window should appear for editing...nothings perfect...
Then scan the page with the images as a whole as doc file. Hope this helps, not all scanners are built the same, just have to read the instructions and features before buying.
Another way to scan to word is right from the MS Word Application. View the video to learn how.

How do you save separate pages in one Word file/

Go to page set up to change margins. A page that is scanned may take up more or less pages due to the the size of font on the page. You can adjust this by highlighting then change the font size.

Scan image too small

Have in mind that an image you insert on a "word page"can't spread out the margins or cover all the page, unless you do it manually.
Just a clue.

Question about copying direct from scan to a Word document

Check if your Canon software creates a PDF image. A scanned image is a RASTER image, a series of dots, that 'appear' like text or drawing. You cannot use Ctrl-C or Ctrl-v. If the software creates a PDF file, you can cut & paste. Usr any good OCR (Optical Character recognition) software ad convert the raster image to editable text. Then you can cut & paste.

Scanning documents reduced to small image

On Tech Support Forum (www.techsupportforum.com) "Chuckmg" first reported the problem then later posted a solution that he discovered. In part, he wrote the following:

"After studying the problem further, and doing some experiments, I achieved the desired results of importing the scanned images into MS Word, full-size and centered. For others who might run into the same problem, here are the steps::
1. Scan the document and get a preview image
2. Select only that part of the document which contains the desired image without margins
3. note the dimensions to be scanned, width and height
4. import into Word

o In Word 2003
• double-click on the image
• choose the Layout tab.
• For text wrapping, choose Square
• click on Advanced button
• center both horizontal and vertical alignments.
• Select the "Size…” tab
• make sure that the Scale is set to 100% for height and width.
• Click outside of image and continue.

o In Word 2007.
• right-click on the image and choose "Size…”
• make sure that the Scale is set to 100% for height and width.
• Select Picture Tools > Format tab > Text Wrapping > Square
• Click on down arrow under Position
• choose icon with the image in the center."

If you have not already done so, it is also helpful to use the File > Page Setup function to reduce the borders to 0.5". My next task is to figure out how to save these setting as default. Microsoft Word 2003 Help says:
  1. Select the picture that has the attributes (attribute: An object or text feature, such as line fill or text color, that you can manipulate by using drawing tools and menu commands.) you want to use as the default.
  2. On the Drawing toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, click Customize on the Tools menu, and then click the Toolbars tab.), click Draw, and then click Set AutoShape Defaults.
I followed the above steps, saved the document and even rebooted my PC, but my next scan to Word still comes out in its reduced size.

Best regards,
Bob J.
