I have no sound on my hitachi 61swx12b

Howdy;
Try these items first: re-set TV and any type of BOX you have hooked to the TV. 2) Ensure all cables are secure. 3) Make sure that there is not a speaker switch on back of TV. 4) go into customer menu (audio) and make that speakers are turned on. 5)
Symptom: AUDIO MUTE OR HUM.
Cause: Remove ALL jumpers on bottom of SRS pwb.Add 1000mf@16v across CSH1 add 1000mf@16 across CSH4 add gnd wire 24ga from PSU1 conn pin 18 to IT02 pin 97.

Good Luck, Big Irish.

Warning label on screen

It sounds like a 'mute' icon. Check for a corresponding button on your remote control.

Just to clarify - You say the TV sound is fine but you do not use the built-in speakers...

Can you actually get any sound out of the TV speakers? If you can't it is because the TV is on mute (For your type of setup you will need to turn it off mute and then just turn the volume all the way down.)

If you can get sound out of the built-in speakers and the icon is still showing, it is almost certainly going to be a fault with the TV. You could try unplugging it, leaving it for a minute or two and then plugging it back it. This may well reset it.

Hope this helps!

Sound issues Samsung series 6

The speakers that come with built into the units are very limited at best. Better than the old 4" speaker that came in TV sets from the old days, but not by much. Ask if you are not expecting more out of the output than is reasonable.
I would offer that the true design intent is to hook the HDTV into a home surround system, a home system is optimized for and designed for your listening pleasure. I'm guessing that your HDTV is an LCD with a sound bar at the bottom, if so it is for general use and not intended for critical listening.
I have a 61" Series 7 DLP and even with larger built in speakers, the difference is night and day between my surround sound system and the HDTV stand output.
