Question about Saeco Royal Professional Espresso Machine

1 Answer

The steam on my Royal Pro has been getting weaker over a period of time, I do still use it but its takes a little longer to froth. I don't think its a scale issue as I'm in Australia & nothing else appears to get scale. Could it be the pump & can I replace it? I am a licensed electrician, but no experience on coffee machines...

The problem could be the building up of scales in the lines and boiler. It should be descaled after about 800 coffees been made.Is it water coming out of the steam arm freely? If water comes out good and the steam is weak means blockage in steam boiler and the lines.
If coffee comes out well means the pump is still good. You can replace the pump quite easily by yourself but make sure steam boiler and the tubes are cleaned.
Have a good day.

Steam is not strong on my ec702 delonghi. I have cleaned the wands. The wand spits out a lot of water with a strong steam, bu the steam gets weaker as I am trying to froth.

The steam temperature control (Thermostat) is not functioning.
The small quantity you get at the start is the steam pressure build up with hot water. Water steam cannot keep up the pressure.
Replace the steam thermostat.

Not enough steam is produced to make good froth.

I have one too and what I do is: turn all 3 switches on and while I'm waiting for the "ready" light to come on I go ahead and pour the milk into my frothing pitcher and prep my espresso basket.
After the "ready" light comes on I install my espresso basket and turn the handle to the "left" so no liquid starts coming out.
Next, I take an empty coffee cup and hold it under the steam nozzle and start opening the steam valve until I get only steam instead of a stream of hot water. Once you have steam, close the valve, put your pitcher of milk under the steamer and froth as usual to around 150 degrees.

Cappucinatore won't pull milk through the tube

Hi
There should be a small pin on the top of the Cappuccinator. When it starts, twist the pin slowly until the milk flows up the tube. Then leave it where it is and it will work all the time.

Frother builds up too much pressure and explodes off the machine

I had the same problem. All you need to do is take the steam nozzle apart and clean it. I tip can be cleand with a neadle. Just make sure you unblock the little side holes and make sure to thoroughly clean the little hole in the front. Over time the milk builds up in the nozzle, clogging up the "steam holes", so the preassure gets too big and the rubber attachments can't hold it any longer. Hope that helps.

Heat temp and time

When a machine takes a longer time to heat up, this is often due to scale on top of the heating element, try using a descaler product, and running a descale cycle a couple of time.

If it is not a scale problem, then it is usually a faulty thermostat or a faulty element.

The mahine does not froth the milk properly anymore

alisha165,

the saeco royal digital dosn't froth milk.... it produces steam, you are the one that froths the milk. is the machine still producing steam? if not you will need to have your steam boiler replaced. This should only be dune by a qualified repairer. If it is still producing steam but it is not as good as it use to be, descalling you machine may help.
