Epson R1800 Photo Printer

The printer can fail at any point dduring the process, at the beginning, partway through or near the end. It simply stops then up comes the dialogue box to say, tis document has failed to print-astatement of the obvious.

R1800 prints ok unless high speed box is checked, in which case, the printer seems to be power-cycling in the middle of the job, which causes the print to fail.

Hello to all the experts at FixYa and other contributers. I believe that I have now solved my Epson R1800 Printer problems and would like to share my good news with all concerned. The answer seems to be the transfer of data (and the speed thereof) I don't know how I or anyone else has missed this but the solution seems to be to ditch the USB cable and use a Firewire Cable. Since I have done this I have not experienced a failure. I have had this problem so long that I can't believe I might have sorted it out. Hope anyone else with similar difficulties benefits.

    With Kind Regards 'Lowerhouse'

It says here there is a solution posted by bestdarngood, but there is nothing in the text except this: "thanks, will post on the original post only, so please don't reply here"

How do we see the solutions?

I have had what sounds like the same problem with my Epson R1800. I finally figured out that it was a bad power switch. If I wedge a small screwdriver under the power switch to apply pressure to it then the printer will work just fine. I think having it fixed would be to costly unless I could get it apart myself.

Replace main board epson r1800

I'm having the same problem. I was wondering if the Epson board was the same as the Anajet board or was there a difference.

Anajet board is $800 and a new Epson board is about $225.

I'm willing to gamble on the Epson. Dont really want to spend another $1K on parts.

My epson R1800 printer sometimes ejects the paper to soon

I solved this problem by wedging a piece of cardboard in the slot next to the on-off switch. This stop the printer from cycling during the printing due to vibrations.

Service time or replace it. If you are considering replacing it- you may well try to take top cover off to ensure there is nothing stuck.
