Yes, but it may be damaged by the format as some newer drives are "set up" by the manufacturers and aren't what they appear.

Unable to detect my hard disk HM320HJ, after i m doing low level formatting using hdd low level format tool....

I believe low level formatting will leave the drive as raw. meaning there is no partition. You need to do an unconditional of quick format such as before installing windows. or install the drive in another working computer and access it through drive management witch will allow you to initialize and format the drive to an NTFS partition.

I have locked my memory card and forgotten the password. Format card also requires password and my laptop cannot read it. Please help.

All you have to do is:

Step One:
To save data, use EASEUS Data Recovery software (free version - 1GB of data recovery). how:
1. Download and install EASEUS Data Recovery
2. Choose Complete Recovery - Next
3. Choose the drive micro SD - Next
4. Save the data to the hard disk (max. 1GB)
5. Because of your micro SD 2GB, repeat the process of recovery (repeat step 2, 3, 4)
After all data is secure, do the process of removing the micro SD password

Step Two:
The first alternative - use the software HP Drive Key Boot Utility
1. Download and install the software HP Drive Key Boot Utility
2. Then, double click the file cp006049.exe
3. If you are using Win XP, double click the file cp006049.exe - select Install.
4. If you are using Win Vista or Seven, double click the file cp006049.exe - select extrack.
5. Then, open the program "HP Drive Key Boot Utility or hpdkbu.exe" - Next - select drive - Next - Create new or replace exiting configuration - Next - Hard drive - Next - Create new file system - Next - wait until the process is completed - Next - Finish.
6. Remove the micro SD from the USB port, then insert it again.
7. Quick format micro SD (FAT file system)
8. Restore all data, to the micro SD.

The second alternative - use software HDD Low Level Format Tool
1. Download and install HDD Low Level Format Tool
2. Select micro SD - Continue
3. Click S.M.A.R.T - click Get Smart Attributes
4. Click LOW LEVEL FORMAT - click Format this device
5. Wait until the process is complete - press OK
6. Remove the micro SD from the USB port, then insert it again.
7. Quick format micro SD (FAT file system)
8. Restore all data, to the micro SD.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for using FixYa!

I bought a wd external hard drive last year and inserted it with a password. now 8 months later i have forgotten the password and not many contents are inside. it is practically empty . i want to use it...

Unfortunately without the password there is no way to recover the contents of the drive. To make the drive usable again, you can reformat it (and lose all the current contents):
  • On a Windows computer, right-click the drive and select Format drive. Pick NTFS as the filetype.
  • On a Mac, go to disk utilities and select the drive you want to format. Click on the Erase tab, and select Mac OS Extended (Journaled) for the Volume Format Type. Name the hard drive and hit the erase button.

I have a hard disk 2.5 hitachi 250 go I lost my password .... with hdd unlocker is impossible

Things sadly do not look good. If the security rating on it is set to Max on the drive, recovering the password for the drive is next to impossible. The only way to make the drive usable again is to perform a low level format using FDISK which does not care about passwords. If the data is important however, you may need to check a drive recovery expert like DriveSavers.

Can't formate a Sandisk micro sd hc

LLFTOOL is a utility for low-level disk drive formatting,
also supports formatting of FLASH cards using a card-reader.

1. Download this tool:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4040651/LLFTOOL.EXE

2. Format card

(WARNING: After running this low level format tool,
the whole USB flash disk surface will be fully erased.
Therefore, data restoration will be impossible after using this utility!)

I havent used my scan disk cruzer in months and now i plug it into my computer and it lights up but i cant open it up to retrieve or put info on it

Try cleaning the USB pins with cotton swab to clean all copper connectors in it.

If the above solution doesn't work, you may need to do Low Level formatting to it.

Low Level Formatting is very much different than High-Level Formatting (High-level formatting occurs during operating system installation, or when adding a new disk.).

Low Level Formatting on Windows Environment can only be done through "Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management" or Run "compmgmt.msc".

On the Computer Management Tools window click on Disk Management under Storage.

Select which drive your SanDisk Cruzer is located then Right click select Format... from there you may choose what File System to use. i advise you to use Fat for a fixed formatting.

Hope this helps. Don't forget to rate.

Lags and says has bad sector after 14 months

Good day sir/maam, hi, 14 months is too short for a hard disk operating span, what we do is run the diskmanager software that comes with the seagate hard disk, on the diskmanager menu, run the low level format which usually removes the bad sectored space out of the way, and mark it as not usable. then may I suggest you partition your hard drive to 2, one for windows and the the other for data. call your computer dealer if they have in house techs for service, or get the copy of disk manager for your seagate. Hope this helps, thanks

Forgotten password

Hello:

If you want to restore your laptop to factory setting: You should insert your "recovery disk to the CD/DVD ROM. and then shutdown the laptop.

Now; boot your laptop using the recovery disk(boot the laptop from CD/DVD rom) This will no need to input the password: its either you have to restore the system without deleting the existing files or you have to partition and format the hard drive. formatting hard drive you will end up with fresh copy of system files. same as first day when you purchase the laptop.

be sure to install the driver if there's any.

However; if you tend to do by supplying the password. iguess all factory installation has no password. you have to strike the enter without supplying any password.

may this help,
