On the very bottom of your Walkman, next to where you'd normally put the USB cable on the left side (when the screen is facing you) is a reset button. Hit it with a pin, that should do it :)

Connect it to a USB port for an hour or so to assure that there is juice in the battery. Using a straightened paperclip, insert it in the little hole on the bottom marked "reset". Press firmly (I tried several times before I finally felt the internal button click). Once it resets, everything should work as before and nothing has been lost in memory. In the future avoid letting battery fully discharge.

hi there!

Don't be afraid when your walkman is not working, because maybe there is a defective in your computer that's why your walkman is malfunctioning.
I've already experience your situation right now, and yo know what i did? I just went to a technicians who knows how to fix my walkman. Because there are possibilities that some virus roam in your walkman, and its all because of the computer. But one I am sure that is being infected by the virus from the computer. So before its to late you better go to the technician near your house so fix your valuable walkman. Otherwise, your walkman will be damage.

Sony nwz-e436f frozen on connecting screen

Hey! We've had a similar dilemma, and we solved it by connecting walkman to computer, then going into 'device manager' uninstalling the walkman, then remove it from usb port and re-connect it.

The computer will then 'recognize new hardware' and automatically re-install the walkman. Good as new!

Hope this helps!

Starts up to "Walkman" Screen then turns off

(Re)installed the 1.1 firmware update, and clicked the "format data area" box. It works fine however it of course deleted all my mp3s. I still don't know why it broke down but I figure it just doesn't work well when it shuts down suddenly due to "low battery".

My Walkman is Frozen

I had this issue for a whole week after I just got it, and then finally it worked! here's what i did: i left the player connected to its charger for a long time even though the battery charge wasn't showing. i downloaded the content manager for my player's model from the sony website. i restarted my computer and took out the player. then i initiated the content manager and plugged in the player again and held down the reset button with a nail until it came on and connected to my computer. only now, it's been saying "connecting USB" for five minutes, but it's something...
