SOURCE: error code sony dcr trv25 c:31:23

Sony says the unit needs a power reset (error 31). Unplug the camera, remove the battery and wait several minutes before re-attaching the battery and/or AC cable. Then power the camera back up. The 23 code says you need to use a InfoLithium battery-- apparently these are smart batteries that give data back to the camera. These error codes seem to be quite common however, and so a hardware issue may be the case. Some users have said that removing the battery while the camera is powered on will clear the codes. Others advocate "smacking" the camera, I would not however, recommend this. www.sony.com is a good place to look for more information.

SOURCE: C:31:23 error with DCR-PC101 Sony camcoder

Had the same error message on my TRV-720, and could not come up with a solution for weeks until I found this website:

http://www.protechcam.com/wwwboard/messages/127.html

Now the fix you will not believe, nor did I at first, but requires you to power off the unit completely and "Smack it" a few times fairly hard.
Now you may do this at your risk, but I swear it fixed mine and all the other people listed at the above web site.
I thought it was a joke - but it works!!

Good Luck!

SOURCE: Handycam says C:31:22

error 31:22 means camera mechanism has error in take-up reel section and micro processor isn't receiving reel signal so it shuts down playback/ record function immediately. look into take-up reel section of mechanism.

Sony DCR-HC40 NTSC the problem seems to be erratic, but get a blue screen and will not play back in play edit mode and will not record.

This is usually caused by an oxidized or defective Audio/Video drum. Try running a cleaning tape through the camera. If this does not solve the problem the camera will need to be serviced by a qualified service technician.

Can i transfer the video to my pc from my sony handycam dcr pc120?

This type of camera usually downloads better with a Firewire (DV) connection. Some mini-DV cameras only use the USB connection (if they have one) for stills and can only download video by Firewire. This is because you have to play the tape into the computer, not just copy a file. The way it works on my computer, the camera is controlled by the computer software.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card. If you have a MAC, you may already have a port.

Suitable Firewire (DV) cables can easily be found on Amazon or eBay. You will need the kind with a small (four pin) connector at one end and a larger (six pin) connector at the other. My camera came with the correct lead.

Hello, yes I know what you mean, the blue screen is because it is a blank area of tape you are playing, or the digital camera setting have been switched on by accident, check all your menu setting are off.

I'LL SEE IF I CAN GIVE YOU SOME IDEAS TO CHECK. I'M NOT COMPLETELY FAMILIAR WITH YOU CAMERA, BUT MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN THAT A LOT OF THESE CAMERAS WITH BOTH THE LCD SCREEN AND THE VIEW FINDER, SOMETIME HAVE A SWITCH OR BUTTON TO TURN ONE OF THE DISPLAYS OFF IF DESIRED. IS THIS POSSIBLY THE CASE? ANOTHER THING IS YOU MAY HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT IS NOT SUPPLYING POWER TO THE LCD. HOPING THE CAMERA HASN'T BEEN DROPPED OR HIT HARD OR SOME ACCIDENT TO IT COULD ALSO CAUSE THE LCD TO QUIT WORKING. DID THE LCD JUST QUIT SUDDENLY? BATTERIES GOOD? DOES IT WORK WITH THE AC CORD, IF THERE IS ONE? I KNOW, LOTS OF QUESTIONS, BUT I'D LIKE TO HELP YOU FIND THE CAUSE OF YOUR PROBLEM. IF YOU LIKE REPLY WITH MORE INFO AND WE'LL WORK ON THE PROBLEM MORE! OK? I'LL BE GLAD TO HELP.

Black and white playback with sony handycam dcr-hc20

There is no problem on your camera, DCR-HC19E is PAL system(European system) DCR-HC20 is NTSC(American system). Are you in US or Europe? I think your TV is NTSC, cause the tape recorded on DCR-HC19E you played has no color. To confirm, connect your HC20 to TV in camera mode, not recording yet, just look at the TV as your monitor, If its in color, no problem, just erase the old video recorded on the HC19E, but if its important to you, you can convert it to NTSC using a PC. thanks
