Hard disk becomes very very slow

The hard drive became vert slow after the PC system had a lightning strike. Transfered the HDD to another PC and that's when I noticed its is now crawling sluggishly.

Diagnostics didn't show hardware failures. Performance Test showed transfer speed of just 3.7 MB/s which is very slow compared to my second drive (220 Mb/s).

Sounds like the digital end of the drive took a hit..you may wish to consider data recovery and new drive..check the repair services here for that option.

Please how can i fix this problem of this kind my laptop is showing no-system disk or disk error replace and strike any key when ready

Invariably there has been a hardware failure of the primary hard disk with operating system (also known as HDD)

You would have to replace it with a new disk and try to restore as much data (if you are lucky) from the old disk.
It would we wise to install SSD instead of the old tech HDD if there is still some life on the laptop

Alternatively, if you are a tech geek (and if your laptop supports)
- Verify if the BIOS is able to recognize the HDD.
- Set bios for boot from usb
- Boot from a USB stick and try to access the hdd
- Recover as much data as possible
- Run a disk diag

MY LAP TOP MESSAGE SAYS... 1782 DISK CONTROLLER

You are getting this mess because the system is not able to detect a boot partition on the hdd or may be it is not able to detect the HDD itself.

Try to remove the HDD(hard disk) and re-seat it, Also make sure that there is no disk in the CD drive (in case the first boot device in the BIOS is set as CD drive).

Go to BIOS by pressing F10 (system setup) and check if the HDD is detected in BIOS.

Try to run a recovery by pressing F11 on first screen after power on.

Please get back for any further assistance.

Thank you for choosing Fixya

Hi there.
Go into the Bios and set the boot order to HDD (hard drive) as first boot device, save the changes and exit the bios, the computer will restart and try to boot from the HDD.

My PC often Crashes, when I opened it! it has badsector in HDD !

You should back up all your important files and installation code, drivers. It is almost 2.5 years I assumed your hd is also of this age. Its a normal wear and tear.

But for the meantime delete junk files in your disk, defragment it if still large space is available. Unload your drive with files. Use registry cleaner, Ccleaner is good at it, actually it has many features, and its free. Uninstall some unimportant application.

I think Hard disk drive regenerator software just check it out, its for the bad sector problem.

Hope this input helps

Error message Non system disk error replace and strike any key wh

Hi !

This error means either there is no disk (or disconnected/wrong connected) or your HDD is gone (which I don't believe) !

I can't find a reason why you pulled out your HDD when it was (I assume) working good before ?!?

Anyway, . . .now, please check carefully the connectors - both sides, to the HDD and to the Board(if any), if they are properly fit!
It is an IDE disk and there are two groups pins on the HDD. Check the pins if they are all going to plastic male connector (and then to the board.
A group of 4 or 6 pins on HDD should not be connected. There is one pin missing in (about) middle of the second row of pins - it is o.k.

Put your ear close on the chasis of laptop and find if there is a spinning noise when you turn your laptop on.

If there you can hear noise, then check in BIOS if your HDD exists.

If not, try to check it on another Laptop/PC.
Regards.

Internal HDD hard error

By your description it is very likely your hard drive finally failed. You probably looking at total data loss unless you have made recently an backup of it. You will have to get a new HD and then you can install your OS and software.

Another more remote possibility is that when you opened some covers, you accidentally disturbed the HD connection causing this problem.

Just for clarification, was there a lot of dust inside ?

Hope this helps.
