Epson Stylus Photo 1800 fails to print fully

This printer produces great photos but is commonly failing to print part way through a job. Epson cannot solve the problem but it is obvious that it is well known to them. Can you help please.

    From Lowerhouse

The printer begins printing then stalls part way thrpough the job. Sometimes almost at the end but it can fail at any point.
Epson tells you to change the settings by setting up a new folder called Espool which did nothing, then to run msconfig and disable all programs that run at startup then to reintroduce them one by one and try to print - until one makes the printer fail again!

    Hi Bestdarngood.
The prints start OK then stop leaving the familiar trail of diminishing ink and a partial print. I have used Epson 'support', they have advised disabling the progs. that run at startup, usung a shorter USB cable, downloading the latest Driver for the R 1800, creating a new folder called Espool. I have used the USB sockets on the front of the computer in preference to the rear ones- no luck. This is now an old problem that Sys.Restore won't help. Regards Lowerhouse.

What did Epson all try with you so I don't try to repeat something that they did? Please let me know and then I'll give you suggestions to what may work.

By failing to print, does it print a page and then won't print the rest of the document or what? Can you explain this a little more as it would help figure out a solution better

If this just started happening, may I suggest trying a system restore to a point before this problem came up. You can do this in the Control Panel under Performance and Maintenance

it is completely reversible so give it a try and if you have any questions about it let me know, thanks

The system restore will only work if this problem is new and if you have had this printer working well before, if this isn't the case, please let me know

This is what you should do, contact Epson again, the corporate office preferably and keep asking for someone higher up and then demand that they replace the printer as no troubleshooting options would fix this problem. The only thing I think can really be done is get a new printer as something is messed up with programming or communication in this printer which can't be fixed on your own. Let me know how the call works out and if it doesn't I'll try and figure something else out but this isn't an easy fix. One other thing I would try is to see if you install on a different computer whether it will do the same thing. Also, how much is the printer messing up?

put the paper correctly and make sure that the paper is not crushed or
not having and wrinkles because if the paper is not good also this
    problem may occur

Check for a new or updated driver at Epson's web site. Remove the old driver & install the new one. If that fails, you may be better off communicating by e-mail or telephone directly with Epson to get back on track. Good luck.

Try buying a new usb printer cable, just a thought - could have a dodgy connection.... Also - try a different pusb port on your computer.
