Question about Xerox WorkCentre C2424DN All-In-One Laser Printer
That is fault caused by the print head not being able to move freely.
There are a few things that can cause that. Here are the most likely problems.
1. With the side covers removed, there is a stainless steel block located about midway back toward the bottom of the frame. If is silver and about 1 inch square. What happens with that is some ink spills into that print block and the print head will not move back and forth properly. You remove the spring holder over that block and most likely need some channel lock pliers to slide the block off if it has ink in it. Clean that and the shaft thoroughly
2. The wiper blade is stuck between the print head and the drum. Normally happens with a power failure or not properly shutting the machine down properly. You have to remove the document feeder, scanner, side covers and ink loader ( where you put the ink sticks). That will expose the drum/print head area. See if the blade is stuck and gently peel it from the print head, then run the remove light stripes procedure in troubleshooting from the user interface.
3. The Process control motor can come out of timeing. But 90 percent of the time it is a contaminated print block or stuck blade.
