Question about Bose Lifestyle 28 Series III DVD Home Entertainment System - White

Open Question

Bose Lifestyles 28/35 says speakers not connected and there is no sound. Already tried plugging the media center into a different outlet. Checked the speaker connections into the media center and the electrical plug connection and all the individual wire connections into each speaker and each connection is secure. Still no sound in DVD mode, FM/AM mode and TV mode.

SOURCE: Simply doesn't work

The only contact with which I am familiar was made by a friend of mine who had received one of the original Bose receivers. Some six weeks later, she learned that they had become available with a CD player so she called Bose customer service and although she was not the original purchaser (her son had given it to her on a birthday), they immediately offered to accept the unit back and she paid only the difference between the two units.
I've heard other good reports about the company's attitude toward customers so I wouldn't hold back from calling them on their toll-free number that is probably in your literature.
Good luck, and it would be helpful if you would post back your experience (good or bad) with them to help guide others.

SOURCE: bose av28 access menu using control buttons

when this happened to me,,,I found out it meant that the video decoding ASIC was out....I could not get any DVD's to play to the TV, and finally, the "settings" menu would not go on the television screen....this means you need to have the mainboard replaced, and after twice doing this,,,,the Tech on the phone told me that the Video Decoding ASIC is very susceptible to power spikes,,,so I put a big APC filter in front of it....

You may have to go into the bose setup and select optical in for that particular input. Check your user manuel it should say in it.

SOURCE: No sound Bose Lifestyle 38 III

I am quite sure that the indicator lights should be green. The blinking yellow likely indicates that there is no communication between the head and the audiomass. Verify that the connections are tight and then try powering off (unplugging) the system (both head and audiomass) for 30 seconds and then powering on again. That will often re-establish communications.

Can I connect a Bose lifestyles PS28 woofer to a PC without the Bose Control or brains? How?

You probably can if you're patient. Here's a link to the media connector pinout. You'll have to cut a 3.5mm cable and tap into the left/right audio signals (Z1 or Z2). I'm not sure if the sub will stay on without the 10v on signal or not. That will be another problem to solve once you've tested the 3.5mm connection. Use the schematics provided in the patent link to make your connections. http://www.google.com/patents/EP1605637A2?cl=en

My husband purchased Bose compnion 5 in Singapore last December. He tried it last night but the right side speaker had a very soft sound compared to the loud sound from left side speaker. How do we fix...

try swapping the speakers around if the problem still persists either the speaker is faulty
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
be sure to wear an anti static earth strap before touching anything inside your computer
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the CPU central processing unit and your sound card dust causes static to build up in a computer causing it to overheat any many other problems
hope this helps

My Bose Companion III Computer Speakers have stopped working. All connections are fine but no sound is produced

This may sound obvious and you might have checked this already, but check all of your mute keys. If the speaker's volume control is down, that's one. If there's one on your keyboard you could accidentally hit, that's one. If the sound properties on your computer insist sound is coming out, try a different set of speakers, or try the speakers on a different device like an iPod. Get back to us if you still have problems. Hope this helps =]

You don't write which operating system you use, but generally you should be able to choose where the sound output goes in the Sound Properties in Control Panel.
If however Sony decided to put some special software that does the thinking for you, and directs the sound output via the HDMI when connected, then you have to dig deeper...

Can not get any sound to work on my bose 28 life style system first time using it. and got a new tv

If you have no sound from any source (CDs and radio included) then check the Audio Input cable at the back of the media center. Make sure it's plugged into the top portion of the 'speakers' section into where it says "main" and not "BoseLink"
If this is fully connected, but still no audio- check to make sure your Acoustimass module (subwoofer on the floor) is plugged into a working power outlet. If that fails, try unplugging both power cords for the system for about 30 seconds.

Additional speakers for 321 system

No. You would need some kind of audio out connections on the back of the media center. The only audio outs it has are the
Acoustimass® Module – SPDIF connector.

Unless you were to hook up an amp before the Bose media center. In other words, you could run your TV to another amp's line in. You would hook up additional speakers to this other amp, then run audio line outs to the line in of your Bose media center. Some stereo amps have a line out or record/tape out, it is from here that you would run the cables to your Bose media center line ins. The disadvantage to doing it this way is you would have to plug all your media devices (dvd, tv, etc) into this amp first and your Bose remote wouldn't let you switch between devices. If your media devices you have offer digital audio, then you would want an amp that also offers a digital out for the best sound. Otherwise you will end up with analog out from this amp to the Bose media center and thus lose any of the digital signal information like surround information. So there isn't much point in doing this. If your gonna get an amp that has all the digital in's and out's, you might as well just use it with new speakers and forget the Bose system you have.
