Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

Several of the numbers do not respond when pushed. It started with the 3 but it has progressed until 3 or 4 other numbers do not respond. Makes it impossible to set the time for cooking, to set the clock or the timer. This microwave's serial number is 380968 and it was manufactured 12/2003. Thank you.

This might be a contact error. It can be caused due to dust in between wirings. Open up the panel and clean carefully. Also, replace the codes with new ones, if necessary.

How do I change temp and time while food is cooking?

all is explained in the user manual
if you have just put food in the even and pressed the start several times to get a number of minutes to cook but want to increase that time just press start again the number of times that you want the cook time to increase
for example :-
you put a frozen pie in the oven and your start operates in 30 second increments and you have pushed it 3 times and it starts cooking-BUT - you read the cooking instructions and it says cook for 4 minutes, just press the start another 3 times while it is cooking
the new cook time will show on the display

Keep calling the company, somebody has to know where they can get you that 'spring', after all it's the customer service that makes a good company great ! Can you make one for a paper clip or something else, maybe a spring on a clothespin? Keep thinking, you'll come up with something.

Microwave turns on but keypad doesn't respond.

If it's brand new it should easily be returned to the manufacturer (Or retail outlet) So dont worry, Just take it back tell them your problem,. They'll probably be happy to help, This is a situation where you can do little if anything and are probably facing a defective product

Most push buttons do not respond when pushed. only 4, 9,start, hold warm and reset work consistant. 7 is intermittent thank you

Unfortunately the whole keypad must be replaced in order to get it fully functional again, and you would be wise to inquire the cost involved before you decide to have it repaired.

HOW TO SET CLOCK

1. push the clock button 2. display should be blinking. 3. then push 3, then 0, and 0 again (this is for 3:00) 4. then push the clock button again, and it should be set     again. 5. sometimes, by doing just the first 3 steps and letting     it be until the blinking stops, is another way. But             most likely, you'll need to follow through to step 4

Moved oven. Keypad can not set time. Amana RRL 9TC

After so many years, the electrolytic filter capacitors dry out and these become more susceptible to disruptions and glitches.

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, I would say your control unit (called the "net module") needs to be repaired or replaced.

If this item is available anywhere, it may take several weeks to get and will likely run well over $150.00.

If you decide to look for parts, the proper model number format is RRL-9TC and it also has one of four manufacturer numbers on its tag: P7553302M, P7553303M, P7553304M, or P7553306M.

Be sure to have both numbers handy.

The original part numbers for the net module seem to have been R0163049 and then R163079A.

Good luck.

Giving -F3- display and beeping 3 times, does not respond

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, you have a shorted / failed membrane keypad.

Until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your model number) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Key Pad only works on some numbers. Others do not respond when pushed

Unplug the unit. Generally, remove the screws inside the door that hold on the faceplate. Inside, it will become rather obvious how to detach the keypad from the main circuit board. Note that some of the screws are longer than others. Carefully unplug the wire loom from the board. Note that these plugs have a small movable section. Flush to the board is lock...up is unlocked. Make sure when you push the loom in that the section is up...then push it down. By the way...before you buy a new part, unplug each connection related to the key panel and reinstall. It may just fix it.
