Question about Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-32FS120 32" TV

1 Answer

OUR SONY TRINITRON PURCHASED IN 2001 - WHEN YOU TURN IT ON IT TAKES ABOUT 1/2 MINUTE TO COME ON AND THEN YOU SEE THE PICTURE GOOD FOR A MINUTE OR 2 THEN IT GOES GREEN, AND BLUE LIKE AN ARORA BORIALIS. WHEN THE PICTURE COMES BACK ON IT WILL BE TAPERED WIDE AT THE BOTTOM AND NARROW AT THE TOP AND SOMETIMES HAVE LINES RUNNING THROUGH IT HORIZONTALLY

You have to replace the "East/West" modulatot transistor.
It is a peculiar thing being a Gate Turn Off Thyristor or GTO. Only a genuine Sony part will do!

It takes a long time for the tv to turn on

Hi,
That can be a sign that the picture tube is going. Does the color look a bit off when i finally does come on? On the flyback transformer are 2 knobs 1 is labeled focus the other 1 screen. you can try to slightly increase screen voltage, that might fix it. otherwise it might be cheaper just to replace.

Sony wega tv was on and it shut itself off and we tried to reset power and the standby light is now blinking red 6 times with no picture.

Why not try this.

If it is a tube type.

1. Turn off the TV.
2. Disconnect it from the outlet.
3. Connect the power cord after 1 minute
4. Power the TV.

My Sony Trinitron won't turn on...has 4 blinks in Standby.

Hello,
There are 3 reasons for 4 blinls
1.unit went to stand by mode because of h-pulse
2.Vertical defflection pulse stopped
3. power line is shhorted or power supply is stoped.

Solution:
1. check 13vdc on A board of powersupply stage
2. Check IC561 on A-board.

Good Luck

Sony Trinitron KV35V35

Could be a weak Picture tube . You can try turning up the screen control but don't turn it up too much you'll get retrace lines in the picture . Turn it alittle at time until picture comes on then turn it down until the retrace lines go away . Then try turning the tv on and off to make sure it comes back on. Be careful you can get shocked if you do this while it is on and you touch one of the circuits . The control is on the flyback or the module thats on the picture tube it will say screen by it . If this does not work you could have vidoe problems or just the picture is no good . Good luck

Sony Trinitron experiences

The screen control inside the set may be on the highvoltage transformer or on the crt socket; either way if you can turn it up just a little clockwise and the picture comes up but doesn't look good you are likely to have a bad tube. Or try tapping lightly on the glass neck and watch the picture as you tap. If it reacts to the tap you have a bad tube. but the turning the screen control is the best test. Turn it the other way the picture goes off immediately. bad tube: too costly if it is available.

Hi, tubes getting tired, band-aid fix you can do is remove back of set and turn up(clockwise) the screen control( small black plastic control mounted on side of flyback transformer, do not turn the knob marked focus) until you see a whole bunch of white lines across the screen, then turn same control counter-clockwise until all the lines go away, try several different channels to be sure all the retrace lines are gone, you`ll get up to 1 year more use out of it, than she`s done, good luck, BMW Rider

Tv takes a minute to get picture

Greg , Sounds like a bad "jungle IC" but without knowing specific voltages it`s really hard to say, picture should show up in approximately 15 seconds not a full minute, it`s normal for the audio to be heard almost instantly way ahead of the video, part number for the IC is 875210104, generic number is cxa2154as, be prepared they are not cheap IC`s, I would probably run the set for awhile and see if it gets worse as time goes by. good luck

Sony kv32s42 trinitron color tv blinking

sounds like a bad picture tube. Picture and bright settings cranked up for a good pic? Test/rejuv with a crt tester and/or look at the Ik signal on the crt board. A good tube has 3 small pulses during blanking. The crt cathodes are checked with these pulses, pulses too low and the jungle IC will blank the drive. If the picture fades in and out I would check the filament ckt but that doesn't support the "blinks"
