In most cases it is and should be. The white is neutral and red is usually also hot.

I have two hot wires and two neutrul wires coming from the box. how do I hook them up so everything works

Open following link to see specific wiring diagram:

There is only one Hot wire inside each household 120volt single-phase wall or ceiling box.
Unless wiring is off-code.
Hot wire is usually the black wire coming from circuit breaker.
White wire that arrives inside same cable with Hot black is the Neutral wire.

The other black and white wires evidently go to light fixture.
Which wire is Hot?
Separate black wires, turn power ON, tape tester leads to wood sticks, test each black wire to bare ground wire. Tester lights up on hot wire. Or separate black wires and use non-contact voltage tester.

In a mobile which wire is hot the white or the black

Usually the black is Hot.
Test each wire to bare ground wire, and tester lights up on Hot wire.
What are you wiring?
What is a mobile?
What terminals are you connecting to? What color is each screw terminal?
What voltage are you using? Only 120volt single-phase has 1 hot wire.
If you have split-phase 230V from UK or 240Volt in US, then both wires can be hot.

110 line in to light switch. How do you continue 110 line out to other oulets or switches?

Add another line to 120V switch.
To begin, inside your switch box, there must be at least two cables.
Each cable has a black-wire and white-wire and bare ground wire.

If your box has only one cable, then you cannot use that for your junction.

OK, your box has 2 cables.
One cable comes from circuit breaker box. These are called Line wires. There is a Black Hot and White Neutral.
The other cable goes to light. These are called Load wires.

You are going to add a new cable with a black-wire and white-wire

In back of box, the white wires are twisted together and covered with wire nut.
These white wires are called Neutrals.
Add your new white wire to these other white wires.

The switch has 2 black wires. One black wire is the Hot line wire.
Add your new black wire to the switch screw that has the Hot.
Of course the switch has 2 black wires, so how do you know which is the Hot.
Turn light switch off, turn power ON, and test each black wire to bare ground wire.
Tester lights up on the Hot.

New white wire connects to other white wires that are twisted together and covered with wire nut.
New black wire connects to Hot wire.
Ground wires are connected together.

On your new receptacle, the black wire connects to brass screw, and white wire connects to silver screw.
Screws are color-coded to tell electrician how to wire.

My bike shorts out randomly and blows the main 30 A fuse between the battery and the fuse box. I believe there may be a bare wire shorting to the frame somewhere, and possibly a wrong fuse in the fuse...

Electricial problems are the worse kind. If you believe there is a bare wire touching the frame you may be right, but in my experience most electricial problems can be traced back to a bad ground.
Follow your grounds and see if one is corroded or loose. also look at the wiring harness for places of possible touching to the frame or something else a wire could be grounding out. I like to explain it as chasing your tail much like a dog until you catch it. Electricial problems are no fun and extremely hard to diagnos online. I hope you find it fast and I hope my advice was helpful.

Utilitech Wall Timer #0192773 does not switch landscape lights on? Replaced Intermatic that had 3 wires. Black to Black, blue to black and red was capped. Utilitech came with 4 wires - black, white,...

Old timer: Intermatic EJ500 & ST01C timers have a battery. Battery operates the clock motor. Red wire is for 3-way circuit [a hallway with 2 switches is a 3-way circuit].

Utilitec timer, clock runs on 120Volt circuit instead of battery. So clock has to have power.

How to connect wires:
Black timer wire connects to hot wire from breaker box.
Red (or blue) timer wire goes to landscape lights.
White timer wire connects to white neutral wire [or if no neutral is available, connect to bare ground wire].
Green timer wire goes to bare ground wire.

How to find black hot wire and white neutral wire inside box
: Disconnect and separate wires so you can test. Use ordinary tester. Power is on. There is only 1 black hot wire inside each electrical box. Test each black wire to bare ground until tester light comes on > that identifies the black hot wire. Next, test black hot wire to white wires until tester light comes on > that is the neutral wire. Exception: This test does not necessarily work with 3-way switches since they reverse each time switch is thrown.

I bought a GE wall timer #15070 and it has 3 wires-black, white, and red. My wall switch has only a black and a white. How do I wire the timer?

You need an electrician here, as it obvious you dont understand what it is your seeing Bothy the black and the white wires are live and are really the same wire.

The main power line say red and black return are the two true power wires in the ceiling. OK the red wire is cut and a black and a white wire is fed doen the architrave to the switch. So when you turn thew switch on you complete the circuit between one side of the red live line and the other. To get your timer to work another line has to be fed down from the ceiling. The red wire fits to the white and the black that are in existance and a new black wire from the ceiling is attached to the spare wire. which is now the common return. Hope that is clear explanation. So before you electrocute yourself and set the house on fire call in an electricial to wire it correctly.

Please rate my help++++Thanks for usingt FIXYA

No electricial input, ON nor OFF on the dryer. Absolutely, no power on the dryer. Check circuit breaker is ON.

Do you have a volt meter? Make sure the cord is correctly connected. Center wire to center terminal on a three wire cord, red and black on outside and white in the middle on a four wire cord with green to case ground.
