U probalby is using windows XP or something like that wich can only format ur pendrive as "FAT" file system wich have max 4GB capacity per file, in order to fix your problem you need an external software for formating ur pendrive or use win 7 if you have win 7 just backup your data and format the pendriver and where it says " File system" will come with "FAT" as standard just click and select "NTFS" format it and be happy^^
Windows XP has limitations on recognising too large NTFS disks. One of the solutions would be to format the entire disk as FAT32 or make a partition and format that as FAT32.
The FAT format is easier to recover data from if things go wrong, but if you insist on making it NTFS, all you have to do is right click the drive, choose FORMAT and then specify NTFS as the format. WARNING!!! This WILL ERASE all the data on the drive so back it up first!
First of all I have to ask why you are trying to load FAT32 instead of NTFS. NTFS is the preferred file system for all Operating Systems after Windows 2000. Also, you cannot format the hard drive through the Windows XP installation for larger than a 32 GB partition. If you need a larger partition, I suggest using a floppy drive with the3 WinME bootdisk loaded on it. You can get it here: Try the WinMe bootdisk from http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm
If the above is not the issue than we can move forward with other solutions.
did you format the drive? and what in? ntfs? quick? full? FAT 32 ? cause you need to go back and run a FAT 32 format to every get xp to load on that machine
To reformat the card so the Nikon Coolpix can use it you can use the DOS command 'format' e.g. format g: HOWEVER the default DOS format is FAT32 which the Coolpix will not read. The SD card needs to be formatted in FAT.
Open a DOS command window and type:
Format 'volume' /fs:FAT
Where 'Volume' is the drive letter to be formatted. On my PC this was 'G'. This may be different on your PC. Make sure it isn't an internal drive e.g. C or D!
